  3. The RSA Data Security, Inc. "MD5 Message-Digest Algorithm"

  5. "The algorithm takes as input an input message of arbitrary length and
  6. produces as output a 128-bit "fingerprint" or "message digest" of the
  7. input. It is conjectured that it is computationally infeasible to
  8. produce two messages having the same message digest, or to produce
  9. any message having a given prespecified target message digest. The
  10. MD5 algorithm is intended for digital signature applications, where a
  11. large file must be "compressed" in a secure manner before being
  12. encrypted with a private (secret) key under a public-key cryptosystem

  15. The executable contained in the archive was compiled on 09/29/94 by
  16. "Ralf G. R. Bergs" <rabe@RWTH-Aachen.DE> using the
  17. emx 0.8h development system. It needs the two DLLs 'EMXLIBC.DLL'
  18. and 'EMX.DLL', available thru the usual sources. I didn't do
  19. any (thorough) test (apart from some quick "md5 foobar" checks), but
  20. it seems to work. BTW, you can use Unix-style wildcards on the
  21. command line.
