  12. RexxNews v 1.1a is a simple NNTP based newsreader for OS/2 2.x.
  13.

  20. RexxNews's features include:

  22. *  Read and post news articles from an NNTP server with OS/2 2.x
  23. *  Use multiple NNTP servers
  24. *  Easily configured for a LAN or multiple users on the same machine
  25. *  No limit on article size or number of articles in a group
  26. *  Can use a Unix .NEWSRC file to ease transition to RexxNews
  27. *  Able to list all of the newsgroups known to a server that contain a
  28.    string and prompt you about subscribing to each
  29. *  Able to save articles to a file.
  30. *  Able to search header fields or group names for specified strings.

  33. WHATSNEW      What's New in RexxNews 1.1
  34. ----------------------------------------

  36. RexxNews 1.1 adds several new features; among these is the ability to post
  37. to newsgroups from within RexxNews.  The new commands related to posting are:
  38.  
  39.     Post Followup Mail and Reply.
  40.  
  41. The post, followup, mail, and reply commands make every effort to be compliant
  42. with RFC977, RFC822, and RFC850.
  43.  
  44. RexxNews now includes a SUBSCRIBED group concept.  When you enter a group for
  45. the first time, you will be asked about it's subscription status.
  46.  
  47. There is a new LISTGROUPS command to help you find and subscribe to groups.
  48. This command is very useful for new users, since you can use it to search for
  49. all 'mac' groups and be asked about subscribing to each.

  51. RexxNews should now reconnect automatically if you walk away from a session
  52. and then return.

  54. The Article reading mode has been improved - you can now spend most of your
  55. session in RexxNews without ever seeing the RexxNews prompt.
  56.  
  57. RexxNews now handles multiple NEWSRC files for different servers -- If you
  58. specify a different server than that indicated in your REXXNEWS.CFG file,
  59. RexxNews will look for/create a new NEWSRC file whose name is based on the
  60. name of the NNTP server.  As long as your NNTP servers are all unique in the
  61. first 8 charachters, this should work fine.

  63. RexxNews now reads up to three REXXNEWS.CFG files from the following 
  64. directories inorder:  the RexxNews directory, the %ETC% directory, and the
  65. current directory.   When RexxNews uses an alternative server (other than
  66. the default in your REXXNEWS.CFG file), RexxNews will also attempt to read
  67. a configuration file for that server.

  69. If your REXXNEWS.CFG file specifies a different screen size, RexxNews will
  70. automatically change the screen size to match if possible.  When it exits,
  71. the original screen size will be restored.

  73. RexxNews also now includes a rough, but useable, NEWSRC file editor.
