Post Road Mailer Green Edition 2.0 Beta
1.99a (post199a.zip) June 15, 1996
Enclosed is POSTBETA.ZIP. Because of subdirectories and especially extended
attributes, this file must be unzipped using InfoZip's OS/2 UNZIP.EXE program,
so that is also enclosed. (If you used another product to unzip POST199A.ZIP,
that's fine. It is only the POSTBETA.ZIP file which contains subdirectories and
extended attributes.) Put the two files (POSTBETA.ZIP and UNZIP.EXE) into an
empty directory of your hard drive and type UNZIP POSTBETA. That's it.
Afterward, you might want to delete UNZIP.EXE since it has no further purpose in
that directory.
If you've used another version of Post Road Mailer on your system since the last
time you installed OS/2 or used MAKEINI, then you must run the program from its
own directory. This means that if, for example, you've installed it into a
C:\POSTR199 directory, you must be at a C:\POSTR199 prompt if you run
POSTROAD.EXE from the command line; or if you run it from an OS/2 desktop
object, that object must have C:\POSTR199 in the Working Directory line of the
Program page of the desktop object's settings notebook.
If you've installed this beta into any drive or directory other than
C:\POSTR199, then you must do one tiny thing: When you first start the program,
it will come up with an empty inbasket until you simply select "1 WELCOME" (the
pre-installed inbasket's name) from the File menu.
Then read the two letters in the WELCOME inbasket for important information
about the product and the beta cycle.
If you want to "migrate" an existing inbasket's contents into your beta
installation, select Migrate from the File menu. Just don't try to migrate the
same inbasket twice; or beware the error messages about files which already
exist, if you do.
And if you're going to create a new inbasket for yourself and use it rather than
the existing WELCOME inbasket, be sure to move the WELCOME\QUICK\PRMBETA.RPT
file to a QUICK subdirectory under your own inbasket before you delete WELCOME.
That file is the template you're supposed to use for reporting problems and bugs
and wishes to prmbeta@ibm.net. Write to us at that address if you have any
questions, problems, concerns, etc.
Thank you!
