  4. Thank you for evaluating ProNews/2, the best USENET reader for OS/2! 
  5. To install please type install on the command line.  If you are
  6. upgrading from beta 1, 2, 2b, or 2c you must delete the entire program
  7. and install from scratch.  If you are upgrading from beta 3 or beta 3b
  8. you must switch to the ProNews directory and run upgrade.exe after the
  9. install.  If you are upgrading from beta 4 or 4b just install and no upgrade
  10. is needed.

  12. Whats new in this version

  15. Bugfixes and feature additions for 1.00 (since beta 4b)

  17. * Fixed a lot of small bugs that could cause crashing in some situations.
  18. * Fixed problem with posting articles with large attachments.
  19. * Fixed problem with non-unique message id's with multimessage postings.
  20. * Fixed some problems with Koi8-r.
  21. * Made it possible to have more than 500 filters (10,000 is now the limit).
  22. * Made 5 on the numeric keypad work as the spacebar for one button reading.
  23. * Made speed improvements to the filter routines.
  24. * Added @ as a valid character in an FTP URL.
  25. * Added options to jump to news/prev threads with read/unread.
  26. * Added % as a valid character in an URL.
  27. * Added option not to decode on retrieving headers.

  35. Notes about this version
  36. ------------------------
  37. + There are probably numerous bugs, and without your help we won't be
  38. able to find them.  If you have a problem, please email us
  39. (support@panaceasoft.com) and let us know.

  41. + This software is Shareware.  It will work unhindered in ANY way for 45
  42. days.  After this there will be a delay upon starting the program.  Please
  43. see the programs help files for information on how to register.

  45. Non obvious features
  46. --------------------

  48. + Using the TAB key on the article windows switches between the article
  49. bodies and article headers windows.
  50.  
  51. + The SPACE key pages down the article body window, and when the end of
  52. the article is reached, advances to the next unread article.  The
  53. default action of the spacebar may be configured in the program's
  54. settings notebook.
  55.  
  56. + Control+Space acts as the space key, but does not wait until the
  57. article is at the end to skip to the next.  Follows the same rules as
  58. the spacebar.
  59.  
  60. + Each toolbar in the program can be customized.  Right click on the
  61. toolbar to learn more.  Toolbars for individual groups are saved so you
  62. can give each group you read it's own toolbar suited to it's content. 
  63. To copy an item from one toolbar to another CTRL-Drag it.

  65. + Double clicking on the [+] [-] items in the tree views expands all
  66. subtrees.

  68. + Selecting all articles in a group and then using the decode
  69. option will automatically scan for multimessage binaries and properly
  70. decode them for you.  Binaries with missing parts are not downloaded,
  71. and are highlighted to let you know they have missing pieces.

  73. + To edit an article or message that is queued for send you have to go
  74. into the Queue window and double click on it.

  76. + Right click on everything.  Nearly every part of the program has a
  77. context sensitive menu.  Some options may only be reached in this
  78. manner.

  80. Known Bugs and Limitations
  81. --------------------------
  82. Problems with the program opening a new copy of Netscape each time the
  83. Jump to URL option is selected.  This feature only works with a certain
  84. DLL supplied by Netscape with it's installation.  Fixpack 1 (and all subsequent fixpacks) for warp 4 replace this DLL with a broken version.
