  4. Introduction
  5. ------------
  6. PMPrep  is a shareware  uuencoder/uudecoder for  the OS/2  Presentation
  7. Manager.  Multiple  part  files are  supported as well  as files  which
  8. contain non-uuencoded data such as mail-headers.
  9. PMPrep  lets you customize the uuencode/uudecode proccess to suite your
  10. preferences.
  11. PMPrep  features   an  easy  to  use  yet  powerful  drag'n  drop  user
  12. interface   and  utilizes   multiple  threads   for  best  multitasking
  13. performance.
  14. PMPrep works on OS/2 version 2.1 and above.

  17. What's new in Version 2.1
  18. -------------------------
  19. » You can  now suspend,  resume and abort  individual conversions via a
  20.   popup menu.  You display this  popup menu with a right mouse click on
  21.   the desired progress window.

  23. » Enhanced drag'n drop functionality.  If you want the directory of the
  24.   left  and right  directory container  to be the same, simply drag and
  25.   drop the path name from one drive listbox to the other. The directory
  26.   is changed automatically when you release the mouse button.

  28. » You can  change the  path  names of the  default  directories  in the
  29.   Settings Notebook in the same way.

  31. » You can specify the default directory for the directory containers on
  32.   the  commandline.  Additionally  you  can choose  to always  use  the
  33.   current working directory as the default directory.

  35. » Memory consumption is reduced by 30%

  37. » You can  now change the  priority  of background  processes  used  by
  38.   PMPrep on the miscellaneous page of the Settings Notebook.

  44. Installation
  45. ------------
  46. Copy  the  file  PMPrep.exe,  the  help files (.hlp and .inf)  and  the
  47. resource files (.dll) to a directory of your choice.
  48. If  you don't  want to  view the  online help outside PMPrep (using the
  49. view command) you can delete the .inf files.
  50. If  you  want  to start  PMPrep from a directory other than the current
  51. directory  you  need  to  include the  path name  where  the .dll files
  52. resides in the LIBPATH environment variable.
  53. See your OS/2 command reference for more information about the LIBPATH.
  54. You  also need  to include the path name where the .hlp files reside in
  55. the HELP environment variable.

  57. Once  you have chosen  the language you  want to use  in PMPrep you can
  58. delete the other language specific files (.dll and .hlp/.inf).

  60. Please  note that  the first  time  PMPrep  is  started  it  creates  a
  61. configuration file (pmprep.ini) in the current directory.
  62. If  you later  start  PMPrep  the pmprep.ini  file is  searched in  the
  63. following directories:

  66.     » The \OS2 directory of your OS/2 boot drive
  67.     » The directories specified in the PATH environment variable
  68.     » The directory specified by the environment variable PMPREP_INI

  70. If PMPrep  can't find the ini-file you are asked if PMPrep shall create
  71. a new one.

  74. Registering PMPrep
  75. ------------------
  76. If  you  find PMPrep  useful and  want  to continue  using it  you must
  77. register PMPrep.
  78. If you  register PMPrep  you will  receive a  license-key which you can
  79. enter  in  the  'enter   registration  key  dialog'.  If  the   license
  80. information is entered correctly, the 'product information dialog' does
  81. no longer pop up when starting PMPrep and after converting files.

  151. -------------
  152. You can download  new versions of PMPrep as they become available.  See
  153. the  section 'where to get new versions' for  information on  where new
  154. versions will be made available.
  155. Please  note   that  it   might  be  neccessary   to  delete  your  old
  156. configuration  file (pmprep.ini)  when you  upgrade to a new version of
  157. PMPrep.  You will have to reenter the license data in this case.

  181. -------------------------
  182. New versions of PMPrep will be uploaded to the ftp site hobbes.nmsu.edu
  183. directory  /os2/archiver filename pmprpXXX.zip where XXX is the version
  184. number.

  186. PMPrep. See the registration information for details.

  194. PMPrep is shareware.  You are  allowed to test and use this program for
  195. 30 days.  If you want to continue using  it after  this period you must
  196. register your copy. For information on how to register PMPrep  see  the
  197. registration information provided above.

  199. You may freely distribute the shareware version of PMPrep, but only the
  200. complete and unaltered archive.

  202. You may  use the registered version on one machine.  If you want to use
  203. your  registered  version on more than one machine you need to purchase
  204. additional licenses.
