  1. I wrote this utility because I was fed up with PMMail's slow indexing.
  2.  
  3. Usage:
  4. 1. Go into the directory of the PMMail folder you want to reindex.
  5. 2. Run PMMIDX your_address another_address_of_yours and_yet_another_one
  6.    PMMIDX will mark all messages having any of the specified address(es)
  7.    in their From: field as "sent".
  8. 3. Pray :-)
  9.  
  10. 4a. If anything went wrong:
  11. 4a1. Restore your original FOLDER.BAG from FOLDER.BAK.
  12. 4a2. Send me your bug report.
  13. 4b. If everything's all right:
  14. 4b1. :-)))
  15. 4b2. If you are absolutely sure everything's OK, delete FOLDER.BAK.
  16. 4b3. Send me a note if you wish.

  18. For me this program works OK, it has indexed about 25,000 messages
  19. crashing only once (on a stupid MIME'd Date: field), but of course I
  20. take no responsibility if it formats your hard disk, deletes all your mail
  21. or does any other weird thing. USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

  23. NOTE: SOME of the INFO (for example the unread/replied-to state, the KB marks
  24.       that Samuel Audet's attachment stripper uses to mark stripped messages)
  25.       IS LOST DURING REINDEXING. If it bothers you, don't use this utility!
  26.       Also, if PMMail was running while you ran the program (I strongly
  27.       discourage such use), exit and restart PMMail so it re-reads all the
  28.       folder indeces.
