  1. PMMail 1.5 Installation Instructions
  2. ====================================

  4. PMMail 1.5 is not meant to be a copy-over upgrade to versions eariler 
  5. than 1.5.  It is a significant improvement in functionality and requires 
  6. a new directory structure for its operation.  This new directory 
  7. structure also facilitates its cooperation with other forthcoming 
  8. SouthSide Software products.
  9.  
  10. Once you have installed PMMail 1.5, you can then use the migrate tool
  11. to pull in information from earler versions of PMMail.

  13. How To Install

  16. The contents of PMM15.ZIP are as follows
  17. SOUTHSDE\                       Directory
  18. SOUTHSDE\PMMAIL\                Directory
  19. SOUTHSDE\PMMAIL\PMMAIL.EXE      PMMail Executable
  20. SOUTHSDE\PMMAIL\PMMAIL.HLP      PMMail Help File
  21. SOUTHSDE\TOOLS\                 Directory
  22. SOUTHSDE\TOOLS\ADDR.DB          Default Address Book Addresses
  23. SOUTHSDE\TOOLS\BOOKS.DB         Default Address Book Books
  24. SOUTHSDE\TOOLS\ASSOC.DB         Default MIME Associations
  25. SOUTHSDE\TOOLS\DICTOT.DIC       Spell Checker Dictionary (NEVER edit this)
  26. SOUTHSDE\TOOLS\HEADER.HDR       Spell Checker Dictionary Index File

  28. All you need to decide is where you want the SOUTHSDE directory to be placed.
  29. Place the PMM15.ZIP file there and unzip it.

  31. Now you can switch into the SOUTHSDE\PMMAIL directory and run PMMail.EXE.

  33. Now you can do two things:
  34.  
  35. 1)  If you are a PMMail user, you can select Tools->Migrate to migrate 
  36.     all or parts of your previous installation.
  37.  
  38.     This is a non-destructive migration.  Once you have determined that 
  39.     PMMail is functioning properly, you can go and delete your old PMMail
  40.     directory and folders.
  41.  
  42. 2)  If you are a new user, you can select Account->Create to create your 
  43.     first account.
  44.  
  45. Once you have done one of the above, restart PMMail and enjoy!
