  17. Enter the full path name of the mailbox file that you want to be monitored.

  46. Check this box if you want your Mail Reader to be started automatically every 
  47. time mail arrives.

  52. This nice little program is similar to the "xbiff" program known from 
  53. X-Windows. PMBiff monitors a file of your choice (your mailbox) in intervals of 
  54. your choice (Defaults: C:\TCPIP\ETC\MAIL\INBOX.NDX and 60 sec) PMBiff will 
  55. raise its flag and beep if it detects incoming mail. It will lower the flag 
  56. after the mail was read. No more, no less. 
  57.  
  58. If your system has MMPM/2 support installed, PMBiff is capable of playing a 
  59. sound file of your choice when mail arrives.

  61. If you presently use LaMail to check for incoming mail you will see a benefit 
  62. of alot less RAM usage (and nicer outfit btw :-))

  67. PMBiff compares the "last access" time to the "last modified" time and observes 
  68. the file size of a given file which is believed to be your incoming mailbox. 
  69. From these informations it decides whether to raise the flag or not. This 
  70. requires the st_atime and st_mtime values to be different (at least to have the 
  71. ability to be different)

  73. Note that PMBiff, because it is working this way cannot be used with FAT drives 
  74. and other file systems that do not distinguish between the "last access" and 
  75. the "last modified" time of a file.

  91. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. PMBiff - How to use it ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  92.  
  93. PMBiff is configurable in an easy way. It follows the well known standards of 
  94. the OS/2 Workplace Shell. 
  95.  
  96. Use the systems default mouse click (normally the right mouse button) or key 
  97. stroke (normally Shift-F10) to display the Main Popup Menu. 
  98.  
  99. Here you can select Settings Run Mail Reader Help and Close. 
  100.  
  101. Click with the systems default drag mouse button (normally the right mouse 
  102. button) into the program window and drag the window to your favourite position. 
  103.  
  104. To change the color of the inactive window (flag down) simply Drag&Drop a color 
  105. from the Color Palette as usual. To change the color of the active window (flag 
  106. raised) Drag&Drop one from the Color Palette while holding the Ctrl-Key. This 
  107. can also be done on the second page of the Settings Notebook.

  109. To change the icon of the inactive window (flag down) simply Drag&Drop an Icon 
  110. file from any directory. To change the icon of the active window (flag raised) 
  111. Drag&Drop an Icon file from any directory while holding the Ctrl-Key. This can 
  112. also be done on the second page of the Settings Notebook.

  114. To change the sound that is played when mail was detected simply Drag&Drop a 
  115. Digital Audio file from any directory. Note that PMBiff only stores a reference 
  116. to the sound file. This can also be done on the third page of the Settings 
  117. Notebook.

  119. PMBiff will accept a pathname on the command line and will use (and store) this 
  120. filename as the mailbox to check for mail.
