  5. What is Network Suite (NNS)?
  6. ============================

  8. NeoLogic Network Suite is a set of tools for improving access to the Internet
  9. from your OS/2 desktop.  If offers a full featured news reader, FTP, and Gopher
  10. clients.  The suite also now includes a full featured FTP server.
  11.  
  12. All applications support Ethernet or SLIP/PPP serial connections.

  35. News    * The window size/position of the decoder window no longer gets
  36.           messed up if the program is closed while the window is max/minimized
  37.         * The window size/position of the queued posting window no longer gets
  38.           messed up if the program is closed while the window is max/minimized
  39.         * A failed posting from the off-line window no longer causes an infinite
  40.           loop to be initiated.
  41.         + When sorting by thread: 2 messages with the same reference list are
  42.           correctly sorted by date.
  43.         + The subscription update should be a bit faster for groups with
  44.           expired messages.
  45.         + CCing e-mail to yourself no longer requires 2 mail messages to be
  46.           sent.
  47.         + CCing e-mail to yourself now works properly when mail is created

  51.           window have been cleaned up.  If you add decoder items with the "D"
  52.           option after starting the decoder, the items now go into a new set.

  54.           the entire x-refrence string.
  55.         + The priority of the decoder has been restored somewhat
  56.         + Posting a message with a line containing only "." no longer fools
  57.           the network posting code into thinking it's at the end of the message.
  58.         + The network read code has been massaged in hopes of reducing the
  59.           sporatic "hangs" that have been reported for article fetches.
  60.         + The default server is now saved properly after changing to another
  61.           configuration notebook page from the server page.
  62.         + The decoder window no counts lines as they are loaded.
  63.         + The decoder window contents are now saved on exit and the decoder
  64.           window pops up on startup if it contains queued data.
  65.         + The group description information now displays correctly in the
  66.           available groups window.
  67.         + Crosspost marking works better now.
  68.         + Posting now have the MIME header information attached.
  69.         + The available groups are now saved in a sorted state when the
  70.           group window is closed, making subsequent opens faster

  73.         + Unwanted groups can now removed from the available group list to
  74.           improve performance.
  75.         + The program now eliminate the "Line too long" message when posting
  76.           followups with very long reference lines.

  93. Common Problems
  94. ===============
  95.  
  96. 1) Applications crash when attempting to start
  97.  
  98.     If you installed this version and still have an older version on your system
  99.     either remove it or remove the old version's directory from the LIBPATH.
  100.     In general, make sure that there is only one copy of NEOLOGIC.DLL on
  101.     your system and it resides in the new installation's DLL directory.
  102.  
  103. 2) Applications start but are not registered.
  104.  
  105.     Copy the netsuite.cfg fle from your installation disk or previous version
  106.     into the base directory for the V4.5 release.  Alternately, run the
  107.     Register program and reenter the codes manually.
  108.  
  109. 3) FTPD crashes or reports a bad or missing FTPD.DLL
  110.  
  111.     If you installed NNS V4.5 into a new directory but have a copy of NetSuite
  112.     V2.x still on your system, update the LIBPATH statement to remove the
  113.     reference to the previous version of FTPD.DLL and reboot.
  114.  
  115. 4) News loads but does not update the subscriptions properly
  116.  
  117.     Make sure that the username and password fields in the configuration
  118.     notebook are blank.  If they contain information, remove this data and
  119.     restart News.
  120.  
  121.     This information is used only for news servers which require a special
  122.     login process.  Very few servers require this.

  125. Upgrades
  126. ========

  128. It is our policy to offer free upgrades from previous versions of NNS,
  129. LA Times, and LA Gopher.  If you have previously registered NNS, you
  130. can re-enter your registration keys to enable the shareware version.  You can
  131. find these keys in the NETSUITE.CFG file of you old installation.

  134. arrange for some registration keys.

  140. NeoLogic Network Suite is available on the Internet from ftp.cdrom.com,
  141. hobbes.nmsu.edu or from BMT's FTP server at ftp.wilmington.net/bmtmicro or from
  142. the Web at http://www.wilmington.net/bmtmicro.  The demo file is zipped in a file
  143. called nns45a.ZIP.

  145. NeoLogic Network Suite is available as a complete suite or as separate applications.
  146. There are discounts for purchasing multiple applications.

  152. Installation
  153. =============
  154.  
  155. Unzip the nsuite45.zip file to a floppy or a temporary directory.  Then change to
  156. that drive:\directory.  Run INSTALL to set up the applications you want.
  157.  
  158. You can create a 3 floppy installation by copying image2.dsk and image3.dsk to 
  159. disks 2 and 3 respectively.  Then copy everything else in the NSUITE45.ZIP file to
  160. disk 1.

  162. You can install this update directly over the previous 2.x release.  Installing
  163. over V1.0 is not recommended.
