  5. What is Network Suite (NNS)?
  6. ============================

  8. NeoLogic Network Suite is a set of tools for improving access to the Internet
  9. from your OS/2 desktop.  If offers a full featured news reader, FTP, and Gopher
  10. clients.  The suite also now includes a full featured FTP server.
  11.  
  12. All applications support Ethernet or SLIP/PPP serial connections.

  58. Known Problems

  61. INSTALL    - The install program apparently has problems with 4OS2 on a few systems.
  62.       If the installation fails try running INSTALL from a CMD command line
  63.       rather than 4OS2.

  65. NEWS
  66.     - Terminating the SLIP/PPP connection before closing News can cause the
  67.       program to hang.
  68.     - UUDECODE does not autoDecode properly if the subscriptions are being
  69.       refreshed.
  70.     - The UUDECODE window will skip set numbers occassionally.
  71.     - Off-line selected articles will not be loaded in message list windows 
  72.       which are currently open.

  90. both FTP and WWW servers.  Additionally our e-mail accounts will be expanding

  95. Program Problems?

  98. If you experience any problems with any of the applications, then we really
  99. want to hear from you.  Please drop us an e-mail message and we will do our best
  100. to resolve your problem.

  103. Common Problems
  104. ===============
  105.  
  106. 1) Install does not work properly on system running 4OS2
  107.  
  108.     Some users running 4OS2 have had problems correctly installing NNS V2.1.
  109.     If you have such a setup, run CMD.EXE from an 4OS2 command prompt before
  110.     running the NNS INSTALL program.
  111.  
  112. 2) FTPD crashes or reports a bad or missing FTPD.DLL
  113.  
  114.     If you installed NNS V2.1 into a new directory but have a copy of NetSuite V2.0
  115.     still on your system, update the LIBPATH statement to remove the reference
  116.     to the previous version of FTPD.DLL and reboot.
  117.  
  118. 3) Applications start but are not registered.
  119.  
  120.     Copy the netsuite.cfg fle from your installation disk or previous version
  121.     into the base directory for the V2.1 release.  Alternately, run the
  122.     Register program and reenter the codes manually.
  123.  
  124. 4) Programs report bad or missing NEOLOGIC.DLL
  125.  
  126.     Make sure this file is in the directory wher you installed NNS.  The DLL
  127.     MUST reside in this location and LIBPATH (in CONFIG.SYS) must have a
  128.     reference to this directory.

  130. 5) News loads but does not update the subscriptions properly
  131.  
  132.     Make sure that the username and password fields in the configuration
  133.     notebook are blank.  If they contain information, remove this data and
  134.     restart News.
  135.  
  136.     This information is used only for news servers which require a special log in
  137.     process.  Very few servers require this.

  141. Upgrades
  142. ========

  144. It is our policy to offer free upgrades from previous versions of NNS,
  145. LA Times, and LA Gopher.  If you have previously registered NetSuite 1.0, you
  146. can re-enter your registration keys to enable the shareware version.  You can
  147. find these keys in the NETSUITE.CFG file of you old installation.

  149. If you are a registered user of LA Times or LA Gopher please contact us to
  150. arrange for some registration keys.

  156. NeoLogic Network Suite is available on the Internet from ftp.cdrom.com,
  157. hobbes.nmsu.edu or from BMT's FTP server at 166.82.142.130.  Our own home
  158. site is ftp://teamos2.org/pub/shareware/neologic.  The shareware file is zipped
  159. in a file called NSUITE21.ZIP.

  161. NeoLogic Network Suite is available as a complete suite or as separate applications.
  162. There are discounts for purchasing multiple applications.

  168. Installation
  169. =============
  170.  
  171. Unzip the nns21b.zip file to a floppy or a temporary directory.  Then change to
  172. that drive:\directory.  Run INSTALL to set up the applications you want.
  173.  
  174. If you have previously installed NNS, then install this version directly over top of
  175. the current installation.  Other wise you will need to manually edit the CONFIG.SYS
  176. file to correct the LIBPATH statement.

  178. REGISTERED USERS: If you installed 2.1b to a different directory, you will need to 
  179. copy NETSUITE.CFG from your previous installation or from the orginal floppy you
  180. received.

  182. You can install this update directly over the previous 2.0 release.  Installing
  183. over V1.0 is not recommended.
