  24. Before You Install IBM IC Phone for OS/2

  26.    Software Requirements

  28.    IBM Operating System/2(*) (OS/2) Version Warp 3.0 or Merlin
  29.    TCP/IP* for OS/2 version 3.0 (already included in the Warp Connect and Merlin)

  31.    Hardware Requirements
  32.    ---------------------
  33.    -  486DX266** or higher, with minimum 8MG RAM
  34.    -  7 MB of fixed disk space above that required by OS/2.
  35.    -  A microphone and speaker (or headphones) connected to the sound card
  36.    -  A network connection through a modem and SLIP/PPP to an Internet
  37.       access provider, or through a local area network adapter.
  38.    -  SoundBlaster*** cards or Mwave* Cards such as Whale*, Dolphin*,
  39.       MultiMedia Modem* or Thinkpad* (built-in) Mwave.

  70. Installing IBM IC Phone 
  71. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
  72.   1. Open an OS/2 Window.
  73.  
  74.   2. Create a directory  [drive]:\ICPHONE  where IC Phone will be installed.
  75.      Example: md c:\ICPHONE
  76.  
  77.   3. Switch to this directory.
  78.      Example: cd c:\ICPHONE
  79.

  81.   4. Download ICO111B2.ZIP form the WEB page (http://www.internet.ibm.com/icphone)
  82.      to [drive]:\ICPHONE.

  84.   5. Unzip ICO111B2.ZIP with PKUNZIP2 utility (now included in OS/2) 
  85.      i.e.: PKUNZIP2 ICO111B2.ZIP
  86.   
  87.   6. From OS/2 command line execute: SET ICPHONE=[drive]:\ICPHONE
  88.  
  89.   7. From OS/2 command line execute: SETUP.CMD
  90.      and make sure ICPhone icon appears on your desktop.

  92.   8. Double click on the ICPhone icon.

  100.   1. In case, you have Mwave sound card on your machine: 
  101.      Make sure you get the latest Mwave driver to support your Mwave card.

  106.  Hints & Tips
  107. ------------------------------------------------------------------------

  109.  1. If you are using Mwave card as a modem:
  110.      a. Maximum speed should be 14400
  111.      b. Add to the modem initialization string 1: &N0%C0  
  112.      c. If you are outside of U.S.A. add to the modem initialization string 2: X0  
  113.  
  114.  2. There is MMPM2.INI file included in this ZIP. If you install Mwave
  115.     and previously have another sound card on your machine, please replace
  116.     your MMPM2.INI on C:\MMOS2 with this one, before installation.
  117.     If you connect with external Internet provider by modem,
  118.     you probably need to execute a next command:
  119.  
  120.  3. Execute : ifconfig ppp0 (or slip0) YourDynamicLocalIPAddress  DynamicRemoteIPAddress 
  121.     This addresses you can get from ppp0.log (or slip0.log) from ETC directory 
  122.     (e.g. C:\MPTN\ETC\ppp0.log).
  123.     Execute: route add default DynamicRemoteIPAddress 1
  124.

  126.  4. if you have OS/2 Warp (not Merlin!), then replace next DLLs in \mmos2\dll directory:
  127.       AMPMXMCD.DLL
  128.       AUDIOSH.DLL
  129.  
  130.      You can replace them with a next procedure:
  131.        1) Go to the Multimedia Folder (or to the System Setup Folder)
  132.        2) Choose the Sound icon - Sound settings 
  133.        3) Disable system sounds - unmark Enable system sounds.
  134.        4) Shut down your computer.
  135.  
  136.  5. In case, that you have MWAVE sound card on your machine: 
  137.        replace MWAVEVSD.DLL if you have an older one with your MWAVE driver
