ICE2Chat.cmd is a REXX program that will automatically add a
prefetch filter string to Mr2Ice's filter file which is called
MR2I.FLT. MR2I.FLT is a text file created by Mr2Ice that
contains the filter parameters for message manipulation (eg......
.automatic forwarding of messages, automatic deletions etc).
This filtering function of email messages by Mr2Ice can also be
used to call external programs by utilizing REXX (a scripting
command tool) which is included with OS/2.
!! Note !!
REXX must be installed on your system in order for ICE2Chat.cmd (
or any other REXX command file for that matter) to work!
The particular filter string that ICE2Chat.cmd adds to the MR2I.
FLT file enables Mr2Ice to automatically call an Internet client
called NetChat (please see FILE.ID.DIZ at the end of this
document for a description on NetChats' features) which is a
shareware program written by Gary L. Robinson, author of other
fine OS/2 applications like NewFile NewFolder and Desktop Wizard.
While connected to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and also
with Mr2ICE up and running ( even in a minimized session),
Mr2ICE can be configured to automatically check the POP server
for any new incoming messages; NetChat will send an initial "
Hailing" message via the respondents email address. When Mr2ICE
detects a new incoming Hailing message, it will then in turn use
the prefetch filter string to automatically start a NetChat
session.
** The following paragraphs describe the actions taken by
M2I_FLT.CMD when it is run:
M2I_FLT.CMD:
Can be run from any hardrive partition. Will open an OS/2
command-line session Scans user selected hardrive/partition for
instances of MR2I.FLT.
* If no instances of MR2I.FLT are found during the scan, M2I_FLT.
CMD will then:
Scan user selected hardrive/partition for instances of MR2I.EXE.
Change to MR2ICE home directory. Write new instance(s) of MR2I.
FLT file with prefetch filter appended to it. Write new instance(
s) of OPENNC.CMD.
* If instances of MR2I.FLT do exist, M2I_FLT.CMD will:
Append a prefetch filter string to Mr2ice's MR2I.FLT file.
Create an OPENNC.CMD in the same directory as the MR2I.FLT file.
Create backup copies of both OPENNC.CMD and MR2I.FLT.
Both routines perform recursive searchs throughout the entire
harddrive/partition; each instance that is found can be user
toggled for Updating or Not Updating the OPENNC.CMD and MR2I.FLT
files.
Note:
At present time MRI_FLT.CMD does NOT check to see if an instance
of MR2I.FLT configured from a previous install already contains
the prefetch filter string; that is, if an existing instance of
MR2I.FLT already contains the prefetch filter string and the
upgrade option is selected, then a second copy of the prefetch
filter string will be appened to the file!

for OS/2 Warp 3 and 4: author Gary L. Robinson. ................

Gary L. Robinson is pround to announce the premier
release of:
***** NetChat for OS/2 ver. 1.00 *****
NetChat for OS/2 is a small and fast personal communication
tool for OS/2. It is designed to hook two people up directly (
without using the IRC channels, servers, IP servers, etc.) for a
one-on-one personal text mode chat.
Requires Warp 3.x or Warp 4.x with TCP/IP installed (or the
Warp 3.0 iak TCP/IP lite) and an internet connection with a mail
account. NetChat for OS/2 utilizes a "Hailing feature" to
accomplish this. The hailing feature uses a built in seamless e-
mail facility to send your current IP address to another NetChat
user in a specially coded e-mail letter. The other user (who is
checked onto the net and has NetChat running in Monitor ON mode)
will receive the message which in turn will then prompt the user
to make or not make a connection.
Some of NetChats features:
One button Hailing makes it a simple and painless way to
connect. No other servers, e-mail or support software are needed.
Allows for file transfers between NetChat'ers. A Phrase file for
storing/sending your favourite snappy retort(s) or saying(s).
User configurable ports for opening more than one instance of
NetChat. Transmit the other person a "WAKEUP!!!" call.
Also included FREE! in this release of NetChat:
MailRun.........background email monitor, quick listing email
viewer. URL's:
