Trial Period
------------
Gibbon FTP has a trial period. If you don't register before the trial
period expires, the program will no longer run. The trial period expires
30 days from the date of first use. The logo panels that are displayed
when the program starts will inform you of the number of days remaining
in your trial period.
The unregistered version of Gibbon FTP has one limitation. It will only
connect to one FTP server at a time. The registered version will allow
you to connect to multiple servers.
Frequently Asked Questions
--------------------------
FAQs that cover questions and problems that arise can be found at
http://www.gibbon.com/faq and at ftp://ftp.gibbon.com/pub/gcp/faq.
If you have a problem or question, please check for a FAQ answer
before you contact Gibbon Computer Products, Inc. for support.
Helpful Tips
------------
The online help contains a "How do I...?" section that may answer
some of your questions or provide tips on some things you may not
otherwise know about.
Just about everything is drag-and-drop enabled, including groups,
servers, local files, and remote files. Drag-and-drop can be used
to copy or move servers, move groups, and to upload and download
files.
Most of the fonts and colors for each window can be set using the
General Settings notebook. These can also be changed by dropping
fonts or colors from the system font and color pallettes. You
can also change the font for the status line at the bottom of the
session window. If you change the font, the status line will not
resize immediately, but will be the proper height the next time
you open a session.
The GCPFTP.HLP file is pretty complete. Please use it! If you
have any questions or problems, chances are the help files will
have the answers.
Installation
------------
An installation program, GCPINST.EXE was included in the package. Once
you start GCPINST, the installation should be self-explanatory. The
installation program will copy the files to the appropriate directories,
optionally update your CONFIG.SYS file, and optionally create objects on
your desktop.
If all files are installed to the "Base Directory" your CONFIG.SYS will
not be updated. If the "Program Directory" is changed, then the PATH
in CONFIG.SYS will be changed. If the "Help Directory" and the "DLL
Directory" are the same as the "Program Directory" no other changes
will be made to CONFIG.SYS, otherwise the HELPPATH and LIBPATH will be
updated.
The installation program can also be used to recreate your desktop objects
or update your CONFIG.SYS file, should you lose the desktop objects or
the CONFIG.SYS changes. These functions are performed by selecting the
appropriate options in the installation program. These options will be
on the fourth page.
