Filter Data Base for PMMAIL, v2.0
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Introduction
------------
The Filter Data File is a very simple thing. An already made date base
of strings that are used in advertisement emails. This data base can only
be installed and used with PMMAIL (1.90 or later).
How does it work?
-----------------
PMMAIL has a quite good filtering system, it will filter emails in many
different ways. The only problem for every user is to find strings that will
work for all the shitmail that goes around, but without filtering messages
send to him by friends.
When PMMAIL finds an email that fits one of the strings of the data base,
it will automaticaly move it to the Shit area that you must create. This is
not mandatory, you can enter PMMAIL's filter setup and change the folder
where the emails will goto.
Install!
--------
First, load your PMMAIL and create a folder (eg. Shit) that will hold
the emails that will be filtered. I suggest you create the folder under
your Inbox folder.
Now choose the account you want it to have this filter data base, and
change to its directorie. For example:
C:\TCPIP\SOUTHSDE >usualy thats where you install pmmail
C:\TCPIP\SOUTHSDE\PMMAIL >and here pmmail's install puts the actual pmmail
Now change to the \PMMAIL dir and you will see directories ending in .ACT,
each directory represents an account in PMMAIL. Change to the dir that
represents the account you want to filter and copy the FILTERS.LST into
that directory.
Now you only have to reload PMMAIL, goto
Account>Account Settings...>Filters Tag, and press on one of the Filter Data
Base options. Then at the botton of the page next to the Move option choose
the folder that you created for the filtered emails to goto.
You will also notice that it automaticaly filters the READ status.
You now have a complete data base of filters for ShitEmail. Just tell
PMMAIL to get your email :)
CAUTION!
--------
If you already have a filter data base, it will be over written with
the new one. If you want to use both, then follow these commands:
Goto the folders directory and:
rename FILTERS.LST OLDFILTERS.LST
move OLDFILTERS.LST <directory of Filter Data Base>
Goto the directory of the filter Data Base
rename FILTERS.LST NEWFILTERS.LST
copy NEWFILTERS.LST + OLDFILTERS.LST FILTERS.LST
copy FILTERS.LST <directory of PMMAIL's folder>
The first line should read the number 190, thats the version number.
