Pardon the brevity, but I'm not much of a tech manual author.
I'd also like to apologize for the previous file that was in error.
No excuse, but I had been writing and testing all night and got the
versions mixed up.
Steps to connect to CRIS via Warp IAK software:
1. Get an access number from CRIS Customer Service 1-800-745-2747.
You'll need to dial that number with a comm program to get
your account setup before going any further.
2. Copy LOGNCRIS.CMD to your /tcpip/bin directory.
*** If you use a port other than COM2, edit this line in LOGNCRIS.CMD:
'mode.com COM2,,,,,,DTR=ON'
3. Start the 'Dial Other Provider' session by double clicking on the icon.
4. Select Add Provider
5. Provider Name= CRIS
Login ID= Your account login name
Password= the password you use for CRIS
Nickname= CRIS
Phone Number= Your local access number
Login Script= logncris.cmd 555-1212 loginname@slip password
(USE YOUR INFO IN THESE PLACES)
Connection Type= SLIP
6. Click on Next
7. MTU Size= 1500
Domain Nameserver= 199.3.12.3
Your Host Name= voyager
Your Domain Name= cris.com
8. Click on Next
9. All Servers (News, Gopher, WWW, & POP)= deathstar.cris.com
Reply Domain= cris.com
Reply (Mail) ID= loginname
POP Login ID= loginname
POP Password= password
10. Click on Next
11. Select your Com Port and Speed of your port. The port speed will
probably be 57600 or 38400. If you know differently, do it.
12. Click on OK
13. Click on Dial.
14. This script will attempt to dial into CRIS 5 times.
Hope this is useful to you. I know I am using the Internet more and more now
that OS/2 included Internet tools that are some of the best around. Ultimail
Lite has many bugs in it however, so I'm currently using Eudora for my
E-Mail.
