  1. Pardon the brevity, but I'm not much of a tech manual author.
  2.  
  3. Steps to connect to CRIS via Warp IAK software:
  4.  
  5. 1.  Get an access number (CRIS Customer Support 1-800-745-2747).
  6.  
  7. 2.  Call CRIS customer support (1-800-745-2747) and ask what the TCP/IP
  8.     addresses are for this number.  They are all different.
  9.     
  10. 3.  Make a copy of CRIS.CMD and put it in a safe place.
  11.  
  12. 4.  Edit CRIS.CMD to change 'annex_address' and 'os2_address' to the
  13.     TCP/IP addresses you obtained from CRIS customer support.
  14.     
  15. 5.  Save CRIS.CMD to your /tcpip/bin directory.
  16.  
  17. 6.  Copy ALTPRO.CMD to your /tcpip/bin directory.
  18.     If you use a comm port other than COM2, edit ALTPRO.CMD to reflect the
  19.     port number that you use.
  20.     
  21. 7.    Open your Dial Alternate Provider Icon Settings.
  22.  
  23. 8.  Change Path and file name to ALTPRO.CMD
  24.  
  25. 9.  Change the Working Directory to \tcpip\bin
  26.  
  27. 10. Save the changes.
  28.  
  29. 11. Start that session by double clicking on the icon.
  30.  
  31. 12. Select Add Provider
  32.  
  33. 13. Provider Name= CRIS
  34.     Login ID= Your account login name
  35.     Password= the password you use for CRIS
  36.     Nickname= CRIS
  37.     Phone Number= Your local access number
  38.     Login Script= altpro.cmd atdt555-1212 loginname@slip password
  39.                              (USE YOUR INFO IN THESE PLACES)
  40.     Connection Type= SLIP
  41.    
  42. 14. Click on Next
  43.  
  44. 15. MTU Size= 1500
  45.     Domain Nameserver= 199.3.12.3 for Tulsa Oklahoma
  46.     Your Host Name= voyager
  47.     Your Domain Name= cris.com
  48.     
  49. 16. Click on Next
  50.  
  51. 17. All Servers (News, Gopher, WWW, & POP)= deathstar.cris.com                             
  52.     Reply Domain= com
  53.     Reply (Mail) ID= loginname@cris.com
  54.     POP Login ID= loginname
  55.     POP Password= password
  56.     
  57. 18. Click on Next
  58.  
  59. 19. Select your Com Port and Speed of your port.  The port speed will
  60.     probably be 57600 or 38400.  If you know differently, do it.
  61.      
  62. 20. Click on OK
  63.  
  64. 21. Click on Dial.
  65.  
  66. 22. If you see no connection in 90 seconds, hangup and try again.

  69. Hope this is useful to you.  I know I am using the Internet more and more now
  70. that OS/2 included Internet tools that are some of the best around.  Ultimail
  71. Lite has many bugs in it however, so I'm currently using Eudora for my
  72. E-Mail.
