Alright, I've know about this bug for a while, just never thought
of the depth of it.
It all started when I tried to enter an illegal nick name.
Say I load another client, the first one being il.
I then try, /nick il+ in the other client
::: il Nickname is already in use.
It then changes my nick on the status bar to il, and thinks I'm il.
When I do a "/wi" without specifying a nick, it does it on il, instead
of the nick I was originally before the "attempted" change.
┌─────---─--──-──────---─--──-─────────--- -- -
| il (il@alpha.pulsar.NET)
│ ircname : Westeel.
| channels : @#thecrew
│ server : irc.blackened.com (I theenk I need a beeger bawx)
| away : il - (sleep) [BX-MsgLog On]
: idle : 0 hours 2 mins 5 secs
Ok, now that's not much of a problem, but then when I try to join a
channel, say #bitchx to tell you about this problem ;) this happens.
/join #bitchx

Now, right after I joined, I switched back to #thecrew to talk to someone
and I couldn't switch back to #bitchx.
When I tried "/l #bitchx" it said
∙φ∙ BitchX: You're not on a channel!
Now if I do a "/wi" on my actual nick, instead of the one bitchx thinks
I am I get this.
┌─────---─--──-──────---─--──-─────────--- -- -

And whenever someone on #bitch talks, I get this.
-Persom:#bitchx- i just got 75 and when i type /leave it gives me PART Not
enough parameters but it left the current channel I was in earlier
versions
When I get a private message, I get this.
-zircon:il- theres this thing called aggressor for w95, its a raw
packetbuilder, fucking awesome, i'll get us a copy tonight,
basically lets us do anything we could od in linux in windows ;)
The problem is totally fixed if you change your nick back to what it was
before the attempted illegal nick. I think all you'd have to do is watch
for the nickname error, and if you get the error, change back to the nick
before the change.
