  5. This file contains instructions on how to install these fixes for
  6. WebExplorer and a list of the APARs that have been fixed.
  7.  
  8. The executable provided is a self-extracting zip file.  Run the executable,
  9. specifying the directory where you want the files to be unpacked to.
  10. For example:
  11.    WEBXV11H.EXE D:\UNZIP
  12. would unpack the WEBXV11H.EXE packed file to D:\UNZIP directory.
  13.  
  14. After unpacking, you should have the following files:
  15. - either explore.bmp, if you have the non-secure version,
  16.       or secexp.bmp,  if you have the secure US version,
  17.       or expexp.bmp,  if you have the secure export version.

  20. - explore.icf
  21. - explore.lst
  22. - explore.pkg
  23. - explore.rsp
  24. - install.exe

  31. This version is a total replacement of WebExplorer code.  To install:
  32. 1- Make backup copies of the following existing files (note:  depending
  33.    on which version of WebExplorer that you are running, some of the
  34.    files may not exist):
  35.  
  36.     /bin/explore.exe     (if you have the non-secure version)
  37.     /bin/swebex.exe      (if you have the secure version)
  38.     /bin/explore.ico
  39.     /bin/viewstrt.exe
  40.     /dll/webexurl.dll
  41.     /dll/webexwin.dll
  42.     /help/explore.hlp
  43.     /help/webexurl.hlp
  44.     /help/webng.htm
  45.  
  46. 2- Change to the directory where the self-extracting zip file was unpacked
  47.    to.
  48.  
  49. 3- Type
  50.      install
  51.    and press Enter.
  52.  
  53. 4- Follow the on-screen installation instructions.
  54.  
  55.    NOTE:  Please note that the window in which all the default target
  56.    directories are listed is scrollable. If you do not want to take the
  57.    default directories, you will need to scroll the window down to reach
  58.    the entries at the bottom of the list.

  62. This file lists all the APARs that were fixed in this version and the
  63. previous version since the fixes are cumulative.

  66. WebExplorer V1.1h (12/11/96):

  68. This version of WebExplorer contains the following APAR fixes:
  69.  
  70. IC15320 - Can't access pages that have a blank content type in the header.
  71.  
  72. IC15657 - WebExplorer v1.1f broke form button display of some accented
  73.       characters.
  74.  
  75. IC15756 - Some colors display incorrectly since WebExplorer v1.1f.
  76.  
  77. IC15772 - Installing WebExplorer gives message indicating that the current 
  78.           service level is already installed, when it's not.
  79.  
  80. IC15876 - WebExplorer doubles the number of blank lines displayed in a form
  81.       field.

  101.           to trap.  This can occur in certain situations when Internet 
  102.           Connection Secure Server is installed on the same machine as Secure 
  103.           WebExplorer.

  106. NOTE: Starting with 1.1h, WebExplorer should be started with -p option (to 
  107.       enable color palette management) if "Workplace shell palette aware" is 
  108.       enabled in OS/2 System Settings.

  111. WebExplorer V1.1g (11/07/96):

  113. This version of WebExplorer contains the following APAR fixes:
  114.  
  115. IC12830 - WebExplorer is misinterpreting URLs with DBCS characters.
  116.  
  117. IC13213 - WebExplorer is not given the correct color palette when focus
  118.           is switched with WorkPlace Shell palette aware "ON".
  119.  
  120. IC14486 - WebExplorer does not set width of table columns correctly
  121.           when printing. It does display correctly on screen.
  122.  
  123. IC14729 - Increasing the COLSPAN value in an HTML doc will crash
  124.           WebExplorer.
  125.  
  126. IC14961 - There is no Help text for the new NO-PROXY-FOR field on
  127.           the Configure/Servers screen.
  128.  
  129. IC14962 - WebExplorer reinstall doesn't remove WEBEXURL.DLL on delete
  130.           part.
  131.  
  132. IC15038 - WebExplorer traps on a 302 redirect from clicking on image
  133.           map.

  159. WebExplorer V1.1f (09/13/96):

  162. A new function is added to WebExplorer to define domains which
  163. do not require the use of a proxy server. This function helps
  164. to decrease the use of a proxy server for sites which do not
  165. require its use. This function is provided via the "No Proxy For"
  166. option (in the Configure/Servers panel).
  167.  
  168. This version of WebExplorer contains the following APAR fixes:
  169.  
  170. IC13903 - WebExplorer only saves forms data on the first submission.
  171.           Therefore, reloading the resulting page will use the data
  172.           from the first submission, not the last submission.
  173. IC14800 - Swapper grows when using WebMap and could crash WebExplorer.
  174. IC14858 - WebExplorer is not displaying accented characters in places
  175.           like ALT=, Form buttons, links, NewsGroup, Mailto.
  176. IC14988 - WebExplorer was denied access when the server did not return
  177.           a "realm=..." string in the header
  178.  
  179. In the past, separate SERVICE.TXT files were shipped with non-secure
  180. WebExplorer, secure US WebExplorer, and secure export WebExplorer.
  181. Starting with WebExplorer 1.1f, only one common SERVICE.TXT file is used.

  197. Installation Note:
  198.   If you have installed 1.1f over a previously translated version of
  199.   WebExplorer, you should rename explore.dll so it will not be used.
  200.   This is probably in your tcpip directory. You can find it easily by
  201.   switching to your tcpip directory and then using the directory command
  202.   specifying the subdirectory search.  Then change to the directory
  203.   where the file exists and rename it.
  204.  
  205.   For example:
  206.    > cd \tcpip
  207.    > dir explore.dll /s
  208.      returns message about where the file is, e.g.
  209.        c:\tcpip\MSG\JAJP932
  210.    > cd msg\jajp932
  211.    > rename explore.dll explore.org
  212.  
  213.   When you start WebExplorer again, you will have the proper menus
  214.   and the text will be in English.

  220. This version of WebExplorer contains the following APAR fixes:

  222. PJ22350 - WebExplorer does not support proxy authentication from Microsoft Servers.
  223. IC13741 - WebExplorer does not work correctly when going to secure documents on different
  224.           servers when using a proxy server.
  225. IC13935 - Browser doesn't support a connection via proxy that requires userid and password
  226.           Authentication (ie. Netscape).

  232. This version of WebExplorer contains the following APAR fixes:

  234. IC13312 - WebExplorer does not properly display URL when it contains
  235.           characters x'20' and below in value.
  236. IC13788 - WebExplorer does not correctly handle images which are
  237.           redirected from a web server to another.
  238. IC12706 - Printed tables are being squished to the left.
  239. IC13317 - SYS3175 in PMGPI.DLL when trying to print large files.
  240. IC13471 - WebExplorer prints garbage when printing a 4 column
  241.           list box to a postscript driver.
  242. IC13355 - Error printing web pages with tables using WebExplorer
  243. IC13045 - WebExplorer will not print text in <TABLE> cells properly,
  244.           using <TABLE WIDTH="XXX"> in HTML 3.0.
  245. IC13237 - WebExplorer displays GIF images incorrectly when operating in
  246.           VGA mode.

  265. - IC12129 : When loading graphical pages with WebExplorer 1.03,
  266.             swapfile grows to astronomical proportions (40Megs or
  267.             more)
  268. - IC12273 : When printing from the WebExplorer V 1.03 to certain
  269.             PostScript printers, some of the document will not
  270.             print
  271. - IC12515 : WebExplorer receives a SYS3175 when accessing the HTML
  272.             code with a <EM> tag in the file
  273. - IC12691 : WebExplorer does not properly load documents with a
  274.             TEXTAREA field
  275. - IC12700 : WebExplorer does not display text on a specific page
  276. - IC12706 : WebExplorer will not format tables for printing correctly
  277. - IC13080 : WebExplorer is not formatting tables with inline
  278.             graphics properly
  279. - IC13084 : WebExplorer abends with SYS3175 when pressing TAB in a
  280.             FORMTEXT field
  281. - PJ19930 : WebExplorer fails with SYS3175 when caching a document
  282.             with a <SELECT></SELECT> pair without any <OPTION> tags
  283. - PJ21391 : WebExplorer generates a SYS3175 in WEBEXWIN.DLL when
  284.             downloading a MIME type with a long URL name to the
  285.             harddisk
  286. - PJ21462 : WebExplorer generates a SYS3184 when ROWSPAN uses a
  287.             value of 0
  288. - PJ21464 : WebExplorer doesn't route correctly when using a socks
  289.             server
  290. - PJ21616 : When clicking on an image map in an HTML document to
  291.             reach a new page or server connection, WebExplorer
  292.             does not properly display the new URL for the new
  293.             connection.
  294. - PJ21622 : WebExplorer V1.03 does not work with Internet Expo
  295. - PJ21914 : Back arrow does not take WebEx V1.03 to the previous page
  296. - PJ21942 : Proxy definition added to proxies Help panel
  297. - PJ22211 : WebExplorer V1.03 produces "String overflow" error when
  298.             trying to reload a form
  299. - PJ21468 : WebExplorer V1.03 ends with a SYS3175 access violation
  300.             in WEBEXWIN.DLL
  301. - PJ22468 : WebExplorer crashes when using "Save As..." to save a
  302.             page
  303. - PJ22506 : WebExplorer ALT Attribute in HTML file is not displayed
  304.             correctly when load graphics is switched off.

  306. - IC11796 : WebExplorer 1.03 gives SYS3175 with long quicklist entry
  307. - IC11797 : WebExplorer generates access violation when loading an
  308.             HTML page that is larger than 8.9K
  309. - PJ20482 : WebExplorer does not display Help for login dialog
  310. - PJ20483 : WebExplorer does not properly allow scrolling in some
  311.             previously viewed documents
  312. - PJ20484 : WebExplorer does not properly display a page after
  313.             loading it. The page is the default grey background.
  314. - PJ20633 : WebExplorer removes a leading space from any query
  315.             submitted by a text input field
  316. - PJ20899 : WebExplorer gives error "Server is busy or not responding" ERRO
  317.             when posting data greater than 4KB
  318. - PJ21284 : WebExplorer does not display all the default text in a
  319.             <TEXTAREA> field
  320.  
  321. Besides the above APARs, several other problems in previous versions
  322. of WebExplorer have also been corrected.
