  1. This file contains instructions on how to install these fixes for
  2. WebExplorer and a list of the APARs that have been fixed.
  3.  
  4. The executable provided is a self-extracting zip file.  Run the executable,
  5. specifying the directory where you want the files to be unpacked to.
  6. For example:
  7.    WEBXV11H.EXE D:\UNZIP
  8. would unpack the WEBXV11H.EXE packed file to D:\UNZIP directory.
  9.  
  10. After unpacking, you should have the following files:
  11. - either explore.bmp, if you have the non-secure version,
  12.       or secexp.bmp,  if you have the secure US version,
  13.       or expexp.bmp,  if you have the secure export version.
  14. - explore.dsc
  15. - explore.ex_
  16. - explore.icf
  17. - explore.lst
  18. - explore.pkg
  19. - explore.rsp
  20. - install.exe
  21. - install.in_

  27. This version is a total replacement of WebExplorer code.  To install:
  28. 1- Make backup copies of the following existing files (note:  depending
  29.    on which version of WebExplorer that you are running, some of the
  30.    files may not exist):
  31.  
  32.     /bin/explore.exe     (if you have the non-secure version)
  33.     /bin/swebex.exe      (if you have the secure version)
  34.     /bin/explore.ico
  35.     /bin/viewstrt.exe
  36.     /dll/webexurl.dll
  37.     /dll/webexwin.dll
  38.     /help/explore.hlp
  39.     /help/webexurl.hlp
  40.     /help/webng.htm
  41.  
  42. 2- Change to the directory where the self-extracting zip file was unpacked
  43.    to.
  44.  
  45. 3- Type
  46.      install
  47.    and press Enter.
  48.  
  49. 4- Follow the on-screen installation instructions.

  51.    NOTE:  Please note that the window in which all the default target
  52.    directories are listed is scrollable. If you do not want to take the
  53.    default directories, you will need to scroll the window down to reach
  54.    the entries at the bottom of the list.

  58. This file lists all the APARs that were fixed in this version and the
  59. previous version since the fixes are cumulative.

  62. WebExplorer V1.1h (12/11/96):
  63. -----------------------------
  64. This version of WebExplorer contains the following APAR fixes:
  65.  
  66. IC15320 - Can't access pages that have a blank content type in the header.
  67.  
  68. IC15657 - WebExplorer v1.1f broke form button display of some accented
  69.       characters.
  70.  
  71. IC15756 - Some colors display incorrectly since WebExplorer v1.1f.
  72.  
  73. IC15772 - Installing WebExplorer gives message indicating that the current 
  74.           service level is already installed, when it's not.
  75.  
  76. IC15876 - WebExplorer doubles the number of blank lines displayed in a form
  77.       field.

  79. In the secure versions of WebExplorer 1.1h, the corresponding APARs are:

  97.           to trap.  This can occur in certain situations when Internet 
  98.           Connection Secure Server is installed on the same machine as Secure 
  99.           WebExplorer.

  102. NOTE: Starting with 1.1h, WebExplorer should be started with -p option (to 
  103.       enable color palette management) if "Workplace shell palette aware" is 
  104.       enabled in OS/2 System Settings.

  107. WebExplorer V1.1g (11/07/96):

  109. This version of WebExplorer contains the following APAR fixes:
  110.  
  111. IC12830 - WebExplorer is misinterpreting URLs with DBCS characters.
  112.  
  113. IC13213 - WebExplorer is not given the correct color palette when focus
  114.           is switched with WorkPlace Shell palette aware "ON".
  115.  
  116. IC14486 - WebExplorer does not set width of table columns correctly
  117.           when printing. It does display correctly on screen.
  118.  
  119. IC14729 - Increasing the COLSPAN value in an HTML doc will crash
  120.           WebExplorer.
  121.  
  122. IC14961 - There is no Help text for the new NO-PROXY-FOR field on
  123.           the Configure/Servers screen.
  124.  
  125. IC14962 - WebExplorer reinstall doesn't remove WEBEXURL.DLL on delete
  126.           part.

  128. IC15038 - WebExplorer traps on a 302 redirect from clicking on image
  129.           map.

  155. WebExplorer V1.1f (09/13/96):

  158. A new function is added to WebExplorer to define domains which
  159. do not require the use of a proxy server. This function helps
  160. to decrease the use of a proxy server for sites which do not
  161. require its use. This function is provided via the "No Proxy For"
  162. option (in the Configure/Servers panel).
  163.  
  164. This version of WebExplorer contains the following APAR fixes:
  165.  
  166. IC13903 - WebExplorer only saves forms data on the first submission.
  167.           Therefore, reloading the resulting page will use the data
  168.           from the first submission, not the last submission.
  169. IC14800 - Swapper grows when using WebMap and could crash WebExplorer.
  170. IC14858 - WebExplorer is not displaying accented characters in places
  171.           like ALT=, Form buttons, links, NewsGroup, Mailto.
  172. IC14988 - WebExplorer was denied access when the server did not return
  173.           a "realm=..." string in the header
  174.  
  175. In the past, separate SERVICE.TXT files were shipped with non-secure
  176. WebExplorer, secure US WebExplorer, and secure export WebExplorer.
  177. Starting with WebExplorer 1.1f, only one common SERVICE.TXT file is used.

  193. Installation Note:
  194.   If you have installed 1.1f over a previously translated version of
  195.   WebExplorer, you should rename explore.dll so it will not be used.
  196.   This is probably in your tcpip directory. You can find it easily by
  197.   switching to your tcpip directory and then using the directory command
  198.   specifying the subdirectory search.  Then change to the directory
  199.   where the file exists and rename it.

  201.   For example:
  202.    > cd \tcpip
  203.    > dir explore.dll /s
  204.      returns message about where the file is, e.g.
  205.        c:\tcpip\MSG\JAJP932
  206.    > cd msg\jajp932
  207.    > rename explore.dll explore.org
  208.  
  209.   When you start WebExplorer again, you will have the proper menus
  210.   and the text will be in English.

  213. WebExplorer V1.1e (07/11/96):

  216. This version of WebExplorer contains the following APAR fixes:

  218. PJ22350 - WebExplorer does not support proxy authentication from Microsoft Servers.
  219. IC13741 - WebExplorer does not work correctly when going to secure documents on different
  220.           servers when using a proxy server.
  221. IC13935 - Browser doesn't support a connection via proxy that requires userid and password
  222.           Authentication (ie. Netscape).

  228. This version of WebExplorer contains the following APAR fixes:

  230. IC13312 - WebExplorer does not properly display URL when it contains
  231.           characters x'20' and below in value.
  232. IC13788 - WebExplorer does not correctly handle images which are
  233.           redirected from a web server to another.
  234. IC12706 - Printed tables are being squished to the left.
  235. IC13317 - SYS3175 in PMGPI.DLL when trying to print large files.
  236. IC13471 - WebExplorer prints garbage when printing a 4 column
  237.           list box to a postscript driver.
  238. IC13355 - Error printing web pages with tables using WebExplorer
  239. IC13045 - WebExplorer will not print text in <TABLE> cells properly,
  240.           using <TABLE WIDTH="XXX"> in HTML 3.0.
  241. IC13237 - WebExplorer displays GIF images incorrectly when operating in
  242.           VGA mode.

  261. - IC12129 : When loading graphical pages with WebExplorer 1.03,
  262.             swapfile grows to astronomical proportions (40Megs or
  263.             more)
  264. - IC12273 : When printing from the WebExplorer V 1.03 to certain
  265.             PostScript printers, some of the document will not
  266.             print
  267. - IC12515 : WebExplorer receives a SYS3175 when accessing the HTML
  268.             code with a <EM> tag in the file
  269. - IC12691 : WebExplorer does not properly load documents with a
  270.             TEXTAREA field
  271. - IC12700 : WebExplorer does not display text on a specific page
  272. - IC12706 : WebExplorer will not format tables for printing correctly
  273. - IC13080 : WebExplorer is not formatting tables with inline
  274.             graphics properly
  275. - IC13084 : WebExplorer abends with SYS3175 when pressing TAB in a
  276.             FORMTEXT field
  277. - PJ19930 : WebExplorer fails with SYS3175 when caching a document
  278.             with a <SELECT></SELECT> pair without any <OPTION> tags
  279. - PJ21391 : WebExplorer generates a SYS3175 in WEBEXWIN.DLL when
  280.             downloading a MIME type with a long URL name to the
  281.             harddisk
  282. - PJ21462 : WebExplorer generates a SYS3184 when ROWSPAN uses a
  283.             value of 0
  284. - PJ21464 : WebExplorer doesn't route correctly when using a socks
  285.             server
  286. - PJ21616 : When clicking on an image map in an HTML document to
  287.             reach a new page or server connection, WebExplorer
  288.             does not properly display the new URL for the new
  289.             connection.
  290. - PJ21622 : WebExplorer V1.03 does not work with Internet Expo
  291. - PJ21914 : Back arrow does not take WebEx V1.03 to the previous page
  292. - PJ21942 : Proxy definition added to proxies Help panel
  293. - PJ22211 : WebExplorer V1.03 produces "String overflow" error when
  294.             trying to reload a form
  295. - PJ21468 : WebExplorer V1.03 ends with a SYS3175 access violation
  296.             in WEBEXWIN.DLL
  297. - PJ22468 : WebExplorer crashes when using "Save As..." to save a
  298.             page
  299. - PJ22506 : WebExplorer ALT Attribute in HTML file is not displayed
  300.             correctly when load graphics is switched off.

  302. - IC11796 : WebExplorer 1.03 gives SYS3175 with long quicklist entry
  303. - IC11797 : WebExplorer generates access violation when loading an
  304.             HTML page that is larger than 8.9K
  305. - PJ20482 : WebExplorer does not display Help for login dialog
  306. - PJ20483 : WebExplorer does not properly allow scrolling in some
  307.             previously viewed documents
  308. - PJ20484 : WebExplorer does not properly display a page after
  309.             loading it. The page is the default grey background.
  310. - PJ20633 : WebExplorer removes a leading space from any query
  311.             submitted by a text input field
  312. - PJ20899 : WebExplorer gives error "Server is busy or not responding" ERRO
  313.             when posting data greater than 4KB
  314. - PJ21284 : WebExplorer does not display all the default text in a
  315.             <TEXTAREA> field
  316.  
  317. Besides the above APARs, several other problems in previous versions
  318. of WebExplorer have also been corrected.
