1.3 Text Mode Support
The number of characters per line (columns) and number of lines
(rows) for an OS/2 full screen can be specified with the OS/2
MODE command. Supported options for this driver are:
Columns Rows
40 25
80 40
Note: 132-column support is not available.
1.4 DDC Monitor Support
When the VESA Display Data Channel (DDC) protocols are supported
in the video BIOS, the operating system, and the monitor, the
monitor capabilities can be automatically reported to the
system. If a DDC monitor is detected, the system will
automatically start up configured with the best refresh rate
possible for that monitor. This information is dependent on what
data is provided in the chip and the BIOS as to the availability
of specific refresh rates. The BIOS provides information on
refresh rate per resolution, not per mode.
1.5 Selecting Large or Small Fonts for Windows
You can select the font size for a WIN/OS2 session in both OS/2
2.1x and OS/2 Warp 3.0.
1.6 New Functions Provided with This Driver
Change Refresh Rate on the Fly is available for OS/2 Warp 3.0
only. With this new utility program, located in the Systems
Settings folder, you can change the vertical refresh rate "on
the fly," that is, without resetting the operating system or
restarting the computer.
Use the following procedure to change the refresh rate for your
monitor without restarting the computer.
1. Double-click on the OS/2 System icon.
2. Double-click on the System Setup icon.
3. Double-click on the System icon.
4. Check to see if the monitor attached to your computer is
selected in the Monitor Box.
5. Click on the Down button of the Refresh box, and select a
refresh rate (this refresh rate must be supported by your
monitor).
6. Click on the Test button. The screen will blank momentarily
and return with a message box.
7. Click on the YES button in the message box if your screen
appears OK. If your display is not readable, press the Esc
key to return to the original refresh-rate setting.
