  94. 3.      Installation
  95.  
  96.         If the ELSA OS/2 driver version 2.01 installed, begin with 1)
  97.         and ignore the following statements.
  98.  
  99.         To guarantee a successfully installation, be sure to have the
  100.         VGA driver installed. If it isn't so, it can be easy done by
  101.         the setvga command.
  102.  
  103.         a) OS/2 2.1x
  104.            Open a OS/2 window and type in the directory c:\os2:
  105.  
  106.            setvga bootdrive:
  107.  
  108.            and follow the instruction.
  109.  
  110.         b) OS/2 Warp
  111.            use the restore option at system boot time (Alt+F1) and
  112.            reset the primary display to VGA (Key V)
  113.  
  114.        After that reboot the system and continue with 1)
  115.  
  116.        1)  Go to OS/2 window screen.
  117.  
  118.        2)  Type the following line:
  119.  
  120.            a) OS/2 System with REXX support
  121.  
  122.               a:install
  123.  
  124.            b) OS/2 System without REXX support
  125.  
  126.               a:install2 [installdrive:] [bootdrive:]
  127.  
  128.               (the 'ELSA Video Configuration' program will not be
  129.               installed)
  130.  
  131.            The installation program creates a directory (Default :
  132.            bootdrive:\WINOS232) and copies all necessary files into this
  133.            directory. Then it starts DSPINSTL.EXE.
  134.  
  135.            You have to start with the installation from the diskette,
  136.            like it is described above.
  137.  
  138.        3)  The "Display Driver Install" dialog box will be displayed.
  139.            Choose the "Primary Display" option.
  140.  
  141.        4)  Under the next menu select:
  142.              "ELSA WINNER 1000/2000 V 3.17"
  143.  
  144.        5)  Under the next menu select:
  145.              " 640x480x256#60Hz" or
  146.              "1024x768x256#75Hz"
  147.            The selected resolution will be installed.
  148.  
  149.        6)  The Source Directory menu will be displayed. Set the
  150.            source directory to the appropriate drive and proceed
  151.            with the Install option. (Select "Change", replace "a:"
  152.            with "." (point) for the current directory, select
  153.            "Set" and then "Install".)
  154.  
  155.        7)  The installation may pause and display prompts to
  156.            overwrite certain files. Please answer "yes" for each file.
  157.  
  158.            Under certain circumstances you will get a message that the
  159.            video adapter isn't supported. Confirm this and continue with
  160.            the installation.
  161.  
  162.        8)  Select "OK" in the next displayed menu.
  163.  
  164.        9)  You will be ask to install the 'ELSA Video Configuration
  165.            Editor', answer with 'Y'es.
  166.  
  167.       10)  You will be ask to insert the 'WINGUI Disk' (ELSA Windows
  168.            Driver Disk), answer with 'Y'es.
  169.            The WINOS2 WINman will be installed.
  170.  
  171.       11)  Shutdown the system and restart OS/2
  172.  
  173.       12)  With the Utility 'ELSA Video Configuration' you can select the
  174.            desired video mode.
  175.            After the next boot, this mode is active.
  176.            Before you can use the new testscreen button in the 'Resolution'
  177.            dialog, you have to select a monitor in the monitor dialog.

  182. 4.      Notes
  183.  
  184. 4.1     WIN-OS/2 Configuration :
  185.  
  186.         To change the standard configuration, use the Windows program
  187.         WINman. The WINNERxx.Drv (in WINDOWS.DR@) are copied to the
  188.         WINOS/2 directory during the installation. You don't have to
  189.         copy and expand this driver from the GUI-disk.
  190.  
  191. 4.2     OS/2 Warp Version 3
  192.         The Installation is enhanced to run under this OS2 Version.
  193.  
  194. 4.3     De-Installation:
  195.  
  196.         1. Reset to VGA
  197.  
  198.          a) OS/2 2.1x
  199.  
  200.            - change into the OS2-directory
  201.               example: C:\OS2
  202.  
  203.            - setvga bootdrive:
  204.               example: SETVGA C:
  205.  
  206.          b) OS/2 Warp

  217.   This steps are necessary, because the DSPINSTL.EXE (before WARP II)
  218.         doesn't work correct.

  224.            except the WINNER 1000ISA/EISA and the WINNER 100VL

  229. 4.5     This Version is a 8/16 and 32bpp color Driver
  230.         and all possible Screen Resolutions.
  231.  
  232.         The video refresh rates can be modified with the DOS WINSETUP
  233.         under DOS or in a DOS-Fullscreen session.
  234.         (Not for WINNER 100VL and WINNER 1000TRIO !)
  235.         The driver will use the new mode after booting. The "ELSA Video
  236.         Configuration Editor" show all of the programmed (WINSETUP)
  237.         modes for selection.

  239. 4.6     TIP for reseting a incorrect video mode :

  241.         To overwrite the selected video mode, insert the following line
  242.         into the CONFIG.SYS :

  354. 6.      Caveats / Known Problems
  355.  
  356. 6.1     WINOS2
  357.  
  358.         With some monitors, you can't use a refresh rate different
  359.         from that of the WPS. In this case you will see a black screen
  360.         (or something else) in the WINOS/2 Session.
  361.  
  362.         WINNER 2000 ISA/EISA D-Release:
  363.         Sometimes, it is possible that the screen is black after
  364.         starting the WINOS2-Fullscreen-Session. If that happens, close
  365.         the session with Alt+F4 and press enter.
  366.  
  367.         WINNER WINOS2 and Seamless Driver:
  368.         Use only the WINNERxx.DRV OS/2-Driver Disk. These files are
  369.         copied by the installation utility.
  370.  
  371.  
  372. 6.2     Lotus 1-2-3 f. OS/2 Vers. 2.0
  373.         Lotus 1-2-3 runs only in 8BPP modes.
