  1. OS/2 for Windows Install Instructions
  2. for the Viper Version 1.0
  3.

  5. These instructions assume that the Viper has already been installed under the 
  6. DOS/Windows environment using a default installation.  If you located the 
  7. Viper files and utilities in a different location, change the paths below as 
  8. appropriate. 
  9.  
  10. 1.  Install OS/2 for Windows using the standard VGA driver.
  11.  
  12. 2.  Install the Viper OS/2 2.1 drivers per the instructions included with 
  13.     those drivers.
  14.  
  15. 3.  Open up an OS/2 windowed or full screen command prompt.  Type the 
  16.     following two commands:
  17.  
  18.     COPY Y:\OS2\MDOS\WINOS2\*.* Z:\WINDOWS
  19.     COPY Y:\OS2\MDOS\WINOS2\SYSTEM\*.* Z:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
  20.  
  21.     Y is the drive where OS/2 for Windows has been installed.
  22.     Z is the drive where Microsoft Windows has been installed.
  23.  
  24. 4.  Edit your SYSTEM.INI file (it is located in the Windows directory).  There 
  25.     should be a line that reads:

  27.     fdisplay.drv=vga.drv
  28.  
  29.     Change this to read as follows:
  30.  
  31.     If you selected 256 colors, the line should read:
  32.  
  33.         fdisplay.drv=p9000_08.drv
  34.  
  35.     If you selected 65,000 colors, the line should read:
  36.  
  37.         fdisplay.drv=p9000_16.drv
  38.  
  39.     If you selected 16.7 million colors, the line should read:
  40.  
  41.         fdisplay.drv=p9000_32.drv
  42.  
  43.     Save the SYSTEM.INI file.

  45. 5.  You should now be able to run Windows applications seamlessly and full-
  46.     screen under OS/2 for Windows with the Viper.
