  8. What This Diskette Does
  9. -----------------------
  10. The Video Features Diskette II for OS/2 provides drivers to:
  11.  - Improve the drawing performance on the display
  12.  - Provide a resolution up to 1280x1024 for a CRT monitor
  13.  - Provide various color depths: 256, 64K, or 16M for a CRT monitor
  14.  
  15. The following models are supported:
  16.    - ThinkPad 560, 560E
  17.    - ThinkPad 760ED
  18.    - ThinkPad 760E (see note 1), 760EL (see note 2)
  19.    - ThinkPad 760XD, 760XL
  20.  
  21.    Notes:
  22.      1. For ThinkPad 760E users:
  23.         If your display (LCD) is SVGA (800x600), do not
  24.         install this diskette.  Instead, install the Video Features
  25.         Diskette I for OS/2.

  27.      2. For ThinkPad 760EL users:
  28.         If the machine type is 9547-x4G, 9547-x4K or 9547-x4T,
  29.         install this diskette.

  103.          An OS/2 desktop blackout occurs when a WIN-OS/2
  104.          seamless session is opened with the dynamic-resolution
  105.          change enabled.
  106.  - (Fix) The overlay position shifts when an AVI file is played
  107.          back using MediaPlayer and the LCD screen expansion is
  108.          switched on or off.
  109.  - (Fix) The overlay position is wrong when an AVI
  110.          file is played back on a CRT monitor and the refresh rate is
  111.          changed between interlace and noninterlace using the ThinkPad
  112.          Features program.
  113.  - (Fix) The second playback window corrupts when an AVI file is
  114.          opened using MediaPlayer or an AVI file is played back using
  115.          MediaPlayer with 64K colors.
  116.  - (Fix) The overlay position shifts on the LCD with screen
  117.          expansion enabled when the display device is switched between
  118.          a TV and the LCD.
  119.  - (Fix) (ThinkPad 560 DSTN model only)
  120.          The overlay position shifts while an AVI file is
  121.          played back on the LCD configured for 640x480 resolution
  122.          with 256 colors.
  123.  - (Fix) (ThinkPad 560 DSTN model only)
  124.          Playback is not done on a hardware overlay when an AVI file
  125.          is played back using MediaPlayer on a CRT monitor that is
  126.          configured for 1024x768 resolution with 256 colors.
  127.  - (Fix) The mouse trail corrupts in a WIN-OS/2 full screen on
  128.          an LCD that is configured for 800x600 resolution with
  129.          64K colors when a ThinkPad computer with a Trident Cyber9385/82
  130.          video chip uses video memory less than 1MB.

  213. Installation Guide
  214. ------------------

  216. Note: This driver diskette is only for the Trident Cyber9385/82
  217.       video chip.

  219. <Preparation>
  220. If you are reinstalling the display driver in a system that already has
  221. an old version of that driver installed, do the following:
  222. If not, skip this procedure.
  223.  
  224. 1. Turn on the computer and start OS/2.
  225. 2. When a small white box appears in the upper left corner of the
  226.    screen, press Alt+F1.
  227. 3. When the Recovery Choices screen appears:
  228.    - In Warp Version 3: press V.
  229.    - In Warp Version 4: press F3.
  230. 4. Shut down OS/2 after the VGA driver is installed.
  231. 5. Turn off the computer.
  232.  
  233. <Installation>
  234. 1. Turn on the computer and start OS/2.
  235. 2. Set the display device to LCD only.
  236. 3. Insert the ThinkPad Video Features Diskette II for OS/2 into
  237.    the diskette drive.
  238. 4. Open an OS/2 window or a full-screen command prompt.
  239. 5. Type A: at the command prompt and press Enter.
  240. 6. Type INSTALL at the A:╪> prompt and press Enter.
  241.       A:╪>INSTALL
  242. 7. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  243. 8. After the installation is complete, remove the diskette, shut down
  244.    OS/2, and restart the computer.
