  6. INSTALLATION NOTES:
  7. -------------------
  8.  
  9.  1.  You must have OS/2 DOS Support installed in order to install this driver.
  10.  
  11.  2.  The OS/2 ATTRIB command is used during installation.  If you elected not
  12.      to install the OS/2 System Utility Programs or you have deleted the
  13.      ATTRIB, command you must use Selective Install to restore the ATTRIB
  14.      command before continuing.
  15.  
  16.  3.  If you previously installed SVGA support, return to VGA resolution using
  17.      the instructions in the "Recovering from an Incorrect Display Type
  18.      Selection" section of your OS/2 user's manual.
  19.  
  20.  4.  Install the GO95 utilities from the 968109.EXE file to C:\GO95
  21.      To activate the refresh rates defined by the GO95 utility, do the 
  22.       following:
  23.        a.  Open "OS/2 System".
  24.        b.  Open "Command Prompts".
  25.        c.  Open "DOS Full Screen".
  26.        d.  You must run the GO95.EXE utility and select a monitor 
  27.            from the Stealth 64 V Installation disk.  
  28.            You must select a predefined monitor, as User Defined 
  29.            Monitor does not work properly under OS/2.  Refer to 
  30.            instructions in the Stealth 64 V User's Manual 
  31.            for running GO95.EXE and selecting a monitor.
  32.        
  33.            Run the following command:
  34.  
  35.                 C:\GO95\GO95.EXE
  36.        
  37.        e.  Run the following command:                 
  38.        
  39.                 SVGA ON
  40.  
  41.        f.  Exit the DOS Full Screen session.

  44. INSTALLATION:
  45. -------------
  46.  
  47. This video accelerator driver is compatible with OS/2 2.1x and 3.0.
  48. Do not install it over any display driver other than VGA.
  49.  
  50.  1.  Place the Stealth 64 Video VRAM OS/2 driver diskette into drive A 
  51.      (or any other diskette drive).
  52.  
  53.  2.  Open an OS/2 full-screen or OS/2 window session.
  54.  
  55.  3.  Change to the OS/2 directory.  Then type 'attrib -r -s -h screen0*.sys'.
  56.  
  57.  4.  Then switch to the floppy drive where you inserted the Stealth 64 Video
  58.      VRAM OS/2 driver disk.  Then, at the prompt, type the following command:
  59.  
  60.      S3INST A: C:
  61.  
  62.           where:  A: is the diskette drive
  63.                   C: is the drive where OS/2 is installed
  64.  
  65.      This command will copy all necessary files to the OS/2 drive.  
  66.      You will be requested to put disk #2 into the drive.
  67.  
  68.  5.  When S3INST has completed executing, remove the diskette from the 
  69.      diskette drive, perform a shutdown, and then restart the system.
  70.  
  71.  6.  Open the "OS/2 System" folder.
  72.  
  73.  7.  Open the "System Setup" folder.
  74.  
  75.  8.  Open the "Display Driver Install" (DSPINSTL) object.
  76.  
  77.      When the Display Driver Install window appears, chose primary display,
  78.      then select "OK".
  79.  
  80.      The Primary Display Adapter type window will then appear with 
  81.      a list of drivers.  You will want to select the 
  82.      '32-bit S3 Display Drivers v2.5'. This should be toward the 
  83.      beginning of the list.  Then click "OK".
  84.  
  85.      When the Monitor Configuration/Selection Utility window appears,
  86.      the "Install Using Defaults for Monitor Type" option is preselected.
  87.      Select "Install Using Display Utility".
  88.      Input "C:\GO95\GO95.EXE MONITOR"
  89.  
  90.  9.  When the source directory pop-up window appears, insert the Stealth 64
  91.      Video VRAM OS/2 Driver diskette 1 of 2, and select Install.
  92.  
  93.      DSPINSTL determines the hardware configuration by creating the
  94.      SVGADATA.PMI file on the drive where the OS2 directory is located.
  95.      If the SVGADATA.PMI file has not been created, the adapter will not be
  96.      supported.

  98.  10.  Perform a shutdown; then, restart the system.
  99.

  101.  11.  To select a resolution and color depth, do the following:
  102.        a.  Open "OS/2 System".
  103.        b.  Open "System Setup".
  104.        c.  Open the "System" object.  The Screen page of the Settings
  105.            notebook lists all the supported resolutions for your
  106.            configuration.
  107.        d.  Select a resolution; then, close the notebook.
  108.  
  109.  12.  Perform a shutdown; then, restart the system.
  110.  
  111. Note that during the installation of this driver a DISPLAY.LOG file is
  112. created in the OS2\INSTALL directory.  This file identifies the OS/2
  113. system files that were updated and indicates whether the installation was
  114. successful.  The contents of this file might be useful if you need to report
  115. an installation problem to Diamond Multimedia Systems.

  118. Known Limitations

  121.   GO95.EXE monitor selections
  122.   ---------------------------
  123.   The User Defined Monitor selection does not work properly with OS/2.
  124.   You will need to select one of the predefined monitors.
