  1. STB Powergraph X24 and VL24 OS/2 2.x Driver Installation Instructions

  3. 1. Extract all files from OS2X24,ZIP and at least one of the resolution
  4.    dependent driver files into a single directory (S3OS26.ZIP for 640x480,
  5.    S3OS28.ZIP for 800x600 or S3OS21.ZIP for 1024x768).  This may be done to
  6.    the root directory of a floppy disk in drive A: if a subset of the supported
  7.    resolutions are to be used.  Note that these files can only be extracted
  8.    with the OS/2 (InfoZip) UNZIP program or PKUNZIP revision 2.0 or newer.

  10. 2. Go to an OS/2 full screen or windowed command prompt.  Change the drive and
  11.    current directory to the drive and directory containing the installation
  12.    files just unpacked and type the command:  DSPINSTL.
  13.  
  14. 3. After a moment, the Display Driver Install dialog box will be displayed.
  15.    Choose the Primary Display Adapter option.
  16.  
  17. 4. Under the Primary Display Adapter Type menu, select:  "SSTB Powergraph
  18.    X24/VL24 Graphics Accellerator".
  19.  
  20. 5. Select the frequency group.  The following are the frequencies associated
  21.    with each resolution and frequency group:
  22.         Frequency Group             640x480   800x600  1024x768
  23.         60 Hz                        60 Hz     60 Hz    60 Hz
  24.         70 or 72 Hz                  72 Hz     72 Hz    70 Hz
  25.         Interlaced 43 Hz or 56 Hz    60 Hz     56 Hz    87/43 Hz Interlaced

  27. 6. Select the desired display resolution.  The following are the available
  28.    options:
  29.          800 x 600 256 Colors [a 16-bit seamless Windows driver]
  30.          1024 x 768 256 Colors [a 16-bit seamless Windows driver]
  31.          640 x 480 256 Colors [a 16-bit seamless Windows driver]

  33. 7. The Source Directory menu will be displayed.  Set the source directory to
  34.    the drive and directory you extracted the drivers into, then proceed by
  35.    selecting the Install option.

  37. 8. The installation may pause and display prompts to overwrite certain files.
  38.    Please answer "yes" in each case.
  39.  
  40. 9. When the installation is done, the Display Driver Install dialog will be
  41.    displayed.  Choose the "CANCEL" button in order to exit the file
  42.    installation stage.

  44. 10.Select "OK" in the next displayed menu.
  45.  
  46. 11.Exit from the DSPINSTL program, returning to the command screen or window.
  47.  
  48. 12.Shutdown the system and restart OS/2 with the new driver selected.
