Installing the Number Nine GXE Display Drivers for OS/2 2.x
===================================================================
Note: The installation procedures in this package assume that your OS/2 system
is currently configured for a standard VGA display. This is the configuration OS/2
sets up by default when your computer has a Number Nine GXE video board
installed.
If your OS/2 system has been configured for some other display device, we
recommend that you return your system to the standard VGA configuration
before attempting to install these drivers.
TO INSTALL:
(1) Place Disk 1 of the Number Nine GXE OS/2 2.x DIsplay Driver diskettes
in one of your computer's diskette drives.
(2) Open a windowed OS/2 command prompt.
(3) Make the drive into which you have placed Disk 1 the default drive. (This is
important.)
(4) At command prompt, type DSPINSTL and press <Enter>.
(5) Select "Primary Display," then select <OK>.
(6) Follow the instructions on screen to identify your video board, and to select
the refresh rate and display resolution you wish to install for.
(7) When asked to update a file you must select YES to update.
(8) After installation is complete you will be returned to DSPINSTL's main
panel. To exit, select <Cancel>.
(9) Shut down OS/2 from the System Menu and reboot. Your system will come up
in the resolution you have chosen.
NOTES: These drivers are designed to work correctly with OS/2 2.0 and OS/2 2.1GA.
They are not recommended for use with beta versions of OS/2 2.1.
Currently, Full screen WINDOWS at 1280 x 1024 resolution fails to
function.
In full-screen WIN-OS2 sessions you may find that your mouse cursor is jumpy, if you
are running OS/2 2.0GA plus the Service Pak, or OS/2 2.1GA. The solution is to close
your WINOS2 session, select the WINOS2 icon on the PM desktop, and bring up its SYSTEM
MENU. Select OPEN then SETTINGS from the menu. In the SETTINGS notebook select the
SESSION tab, and press the WIN-OS/2 settings button. Change the following three
settings: IDLE_SECONDS to 20, IDLE_SENSITIVITY to 100, MOUSE_EXCLUSIVE_ACCESS to ON.
Select the SAVE button and CLOSE the settings notebook. (These changes are NOT
necessary for seamless Windows sessions.)
