  2. Files F10X8.ZIP & F8X8.ZIP contain the second release of the Orchid
  3. Fahrenheit 1280 Display Drivers (F10x8.DLL & F8x8.DLL), Virtual Device Driver
  4. (VSVGA.SYS), SVGADATA file creation tool (SVGA.EXE), installation
  5. instructions (INSTALL.DOC), and preliminary installation instructions
  6. (README.1ST).

  8. This driver release is for use with the IBM OS/2 2.0 GA release (16-Bit
  9. Graphics Rendering Engine). However, drivers and support files have been
  10. tested with OS/2 2.0 with the Service Pack applied and no serious problems
  11. have been found to date.

  13. While it is not a requirement, it is highly recommended that a backup of all
  14. important and critical OS/2 system and application files located on the OS/2
  15. boot volume be preformed before installing the F1280 display driver.

  18. Some of the improvements offered and bugs fixed by this release:

  21. Fixed problem with OS/2 DOS windowed VDMs (sessions) becoming full of video
  22. garbage when the session is brought to full screen mode. 
  23.  
  24. Improved behaviour and performance of OS/2 DOS windowed VDMs when text window
  25. is scrolled or when font size is changed. 
  26.  
  27. Corrected improperly positioned "characters" when "label board" choice
  28. selected in "options" menu in OS/2 CHESS program. I put "characters" in
  29. quotes because the characters are obviously still not correctly rendered.
  30. However, the test group reports these characters are correctly rendered when
  31. the driver is used on a system which has been updated with the Service Pack.

  33. Improved driver's performance and behaviour when used with OS/2 2.0 with the
  34. Service Pack update installed.

  39. Release documentation dealing with the installation and running of the Orchid
  40. F1280 Windows 3.x display driver in Win-OS/2 sessions. (Requires the 
  41. installation of the OS/2 Windows 3.1 support code.)

  43. Develope F1280 OS/2 display driver DSPINSTL configuration file to ease
  44. installation of F1280 OS/2 display drivers.
  45.  
  46. Release the F1280 BVHSVGA.DLL module and updated drivers to take advantage of
  47. it.
