  13. Description:

  16. This package provides replacement modules for the "TCP/IP Version 4.1 for OS/2"
  17. tcp/ip stack and DLL's. Note that service is cumulative. See the Change History 
  18. below for the APARs applied to the stack and DLL's since "TCP/IP Version 4.1 for 
  19. OS/2" GA.

  22. Prerequisites:

  25. You must have the following installed on your system:
  26.   - "TCP/IP Version 4.1 for OS/2", component id 5639B1700, R530 
  27.   - "MPTS Version 5.30", WR08600.

  30. Installation instructions:
  31. --------------------------

  33. 1. You should create a temporary directory and decompress (unzip) IC19488.EXE
  34.    into it. Enter the following:
  35.       IC19488 .
  36.    No subdirectories are created.
  37.  
  38. 2. Since some of the files are locked by the system (the DLL's), to replace
  39.    them you must now perform a shutdown of your OS/2 system.
  40.    The directions below will walk you thru the procedure for replacing
  41.    these files.
  42.  
  43. 3. Reboot your system.
  44.  
  45. 4. As soon as your system begins to boot, and you see the OS2 with a small
  46.    white block in the upper left corner of your screen, depress the ALT key and
  47.    the F1 key at the same time (ALT-F1).
  48.  
  49. 5. The Recovery Choices screen should be displayed. Press either F2 or "C", as 
  50.    appropriate for your level of OS/2 Warp, to get a command prompt.
  51.  
  52. 6. Your system will now continue to boot, and should complete with an [X:\]
  53.    prompt, where "X" is your boot drive.
  54.  
  55. 7. Change to the drive and temporary directory in which you unzipped the
  56.    IC19488.EXE file.
  57.  
  58. 8. The files listed in this directory should replace ANY EXISTING FILES of
  59.    the same name currently on your system.  DO NOT create a subdirectory for
  60.    these files and simply place it in your PATH in CONFIG.SYS.  If you do,
  61.    it will create multiple copies of DLL'S, and EXE's etc, which could cause
  62.    erratic behavior of your system.

  64. 9. Place the files in directories as listed in the "Contents" section below.
  65.    Note that "y:" is the drive on which MPTN was installed, and "x:" is
  66.    the drive on which TCP/IP was installed (x: and y: are usually the same).

  68. 10. Reboot your system. You can use Ctrl-Alt-Del or type "exit" on the command 
  69.     line.
  70.  
  71. 11. Your system should now start normally and all file changes will be in
  72.     effect.

  74. 12. When your system has completed startup, you can verify that the new
  75.     TCP/IP stack is running by issuing the following command from an OS/2
  76.     command prompt:

  78.        INETVER
  79.  
  80.     The following should be displayed:

  82.       Version numbers of TCP/IP protocol drivers:
  83.          SOCKETS.SYS 5.3001
  84.          AFOS2.SYS   5.3000
