  1. Install fixes for CAE/2 v1.2 (US) and SDK/2 v1.2 (US)

  4. This README file contains information for the following products:
  5.  
  6. - DB2 Client Application Enabler/2 (CAE/2) v1.2
  7. - DB2 Software Developer's Kit/2 (SDK/2) v1.2
  8.  
  9. It details all install fixes made to the product since CAE/2 v1.2.0
  10. (GOLD, syslevel WR07000) or SDK/2 v1.2.0 (GOLD, syslevel WR07000).
  11. This includes all install fixes for the Service Pak WR07043 (CAE/2)
  12. and WR07048 (SDK/2).

  15. Pre-Requisites
  16. --------------
  17.  
  18. The fix can be applied to GOLD versions (Syslevel WR07000) of:
  19.          CAE/2 v1.2 (Client Application Enabler /2)
  20.     and  SDK/2 v1.2 (Software Development Kit /2)
  21.  
  22.  
  23. Applying the Fixes
  24. ------------------
  25.  
  26. USINCL.ZIP contains the following .ZIP files:
  27.  
  28.        USINCAE2.ZIP ..... fixes for CAE/2 v1.2
  29.        USINSDK2.ZIP ..... fixes for SDK/2 v1.2
  30.  
  31.  
  32. For CAE/2 users:
  33.  
  34.    Copy USINCAE2.ZIP to a temporary directory on your hard drive.
  35. Insert Disk 1 of the CAE/2 v1.2 product into drive A:.  Use the
  36. command 'pkunzip -o usincae2.zip a:' to overwrite the files
  37. on your installation diskette.
  38.  
  39. NOTE: If a 'Disk Full' error occurs when performing the pkunzip
  40. (due to 0 bytes free on disk 1), then move the file PKZIP.EXE off the
  41. first disk and save it on disk 3, or another drive on your system.
  42.  
  43. If you have previously installed CAE/2 v1.2 on your system use
  44. the following command to apply the fix.
  45.  
  46. pkunzip -o usincae2.zip x:\os2\install
  47.        ( where x: is the system boot drive )
  48.

  51. For SDK/2 users:
  52.  
  53.    Copy USINSDK2.ZIP to a temporary directory on your hard drive.
  54. Insert Disk 1 of the SDK/2 v1.2 product into drive A:.  Use the
  55. command 'pkunzip -o usinsdk2.zip a:' to overwrite the files
  56. on your installation diskette.

  69. Description of Fixes
  70. --------------------
  71.  
  72. APAR JR08226 : Installation on WARP fails
  73.  
  74. This fix solves a problem for installing CAE/2 v1.2 and SDK/2 v1.2
  75. on OS/2 WARP (v3.0).  The CAE/2 & SDK/2 version 1.2.0 could only be
  76. installed on OS/2 2.0 or 2.1.  This fix enables the installation of
  77. CAE/2 & SDK/2 v1.2 on an OS/2 release later than 2.0 (including WARP).

  80. APAR JR08352 : No FFST folders after installation
  81.  
  82. Previously, the FFST folder may be removed during installation
  83. if CM/2 1.11 was already installed on the system. This problem
  84. has been fixed.

  87. Trailing blanks in response file cause error
  88.  
  89. Leading or trailing blanks for the keyword DBWorkStationName in the
  90. CID response file caused validation error during installation.
  91. This problem has been fixed.

  94. Install fails when IBMLVL.INI file has a non-existant IBM_DB/PATH
  95.  
  96. DB2/2 installation failed with the following errors if the IBMLVL.INI
  97. file had IBM_DB/PATH pointing to disk drive that did not exist:
  98.  
  99. DBI0021E Invalid path or file name
  100. DBI0019E Unexpected Presentation Manager error
  101.  
  102. This could occur after the following chain of events:
  103.   - DB2/2 was installed (on drive x: for instance)
  104.   - DB2/2 was then manually moved to another drive
  105.          (i.e. without performing a re-install)
  106.   - The old install drive (x:) was removed so it
  107.           was no longer recognizable to OS/2
  108.   - An install or re-install of DB2/2 was initiated
  109.  
  110. A fix has been implemented for this problem.
  111.  
  112.  
  113. Installing over a previous install
  114.  
  115. Previously, installing CAE/2 or SDK/2 over top of DB2/2, CAE/2,
  116. or DB2/2 DCF (on a different drive) the warning DBI0108W "An
  117. earlier version of database manager was found on another drive
  118. Do you want it to be removed?  Yes/No/Cancel"  was displayed.
  119. Even if 'No' was selected, the product was removed.
  120. This fix corrects the problem by allowing you to backup the product
  121. before installing CAE/2 or SDK/2 and ALWAYS deleting a previous
  122. product during the actual CAE/2 or SDK/2 installation (no warning
  123. message is displayed).

  126. CID install fails, yet install returns good CID return code
  127.  
  128. Previously, if errors were encountered during a CID install
  129. the install program indicated a successful installtion instead
  130. of returning a install failed error code. This problem
  131. has been fixed to display an install failed message if errors
  132. are encountered during a CID installation.

  135. Some CID config keywords allow illegal values
  136.  
  137. Previously, the installation would fail due to CID configuration
  138. keywords allowing illegal values.  The keywords DCFMaxCommoHeapSize
  139. and DCFMaxRDSHeapSize have been adjusted.

  142. Install fails on Warp with PCMCIA cards
  143.  
  144. Previously, when installing CAE/2 on a machine with a PCMCIA slot,
  145. scrolling through all available drives for install will yield a
  146. "Drive not Ready" error for the drive letter representing the PCMCIA
  147. drive.  This problem has been fixed by only displaying drives that
  148. are writeable.  Drives that are unformated, read-only or removable
  149. that are not ready are removed from the list displayed.

  152. Migrate database or node directories
  153.  
  154. Previously, when installing CAE/2 v1.2 or SDK/2 v1.2 over top
  155. of DB2/2 v1.2 or DB2/2 DCF v1.2, the migration of the database and node
  156. directories failed.  The database and node directory formats
  157. are different for CAE/2 and SDK/2 from DB2/2 and DCF.  This fix
  158. corrects the problem.
