  3. This is a text file explaining the new IBM*FLPY.ADD files. 
  4. The new 2.99 warp beta disk as well as other media types
  5. IBM is using employment of the 1.83 meg disk capacity for a HD 3.5"
  6. drive. 
  7.  
  8. Several new files are needed to enable OS2 2.x or greater to 
  9. use the new file system. The new files are listed as follows:
  10.  
  11. XDFLOPPY.FLT
  12. XDFCOPY.EXE
  13. IBM1FLPY.ADD    [most PS-1's and compatables]
  14. IBM2FLPY.ADD    [most PS-2's]
  15.  
  16. Change to the OS2 directory located on your hard drive.
  17. Rename IBM1FLPY.ADD to IBM1FLPY.OLD
  18. For Micro Channel-Bus systems Rename IBM2FLPY.ADD IBM2FLPY.OLD. 
  19. Now copy IBM1FLPY.ADD to all OS2 Directories of all systems except:

  21.             ** IBM Micro Channel systems. ***
  22. For the IBM Micro Channel systems use IBM2FLPY.ADD
  23.  
  24. *** Note Non IBM Micro Channel systems will now use  IBM1FLPY.ADD
  25.  
  26. The following statement is the only line added to the
  27. CONFIG.SYS for all systems:
  28.  
  29. BASEDEV=XDFLOPPY.FLT
  30.  
  31. On NON IBM Micro Channel-bus systems add the above line and make
  32. the following change to this CONFIG.SYS statement:
  33. BASEDEV=IBM2FLPY.ADD to BASESDEV=IBM1FLPY.ADD /MCA
  34.  
  35. Please note that the BASEDEV=XDFLOPPY.FLT is added to all systems.
  36. PCI,ISA,EISA and non-IBM Micro Channel Bus systems are all supported
  37. by the new IBM1FLPY.ADD.
  38.  
  39. On an IBM Micro Channel system use IBM2FLPY.ADD [ most PS-2's]
  40.  
  41. XDFCOPY.EXE is used to make disk images for the WARP 2.99 product:
  42. XDFCOPY A:IMAGENAME
  43.  
  44. XDFCOPY.EXE can also be used to make diskettes from the image:
  45. XDFCOPY IMAGENAME A:
  46.  
  47. Note XDFCOPY can only be run in one DOS or OS2 session at a time!
  48. Do not multitask, it will hang the system!
  49.  
  50. In regards to the 2.99 diskettes, disk #2 - N use XDF technology. 
  51. The installation disk and disk #1 use standard format. These 1st
  52. two disk can be added too and read/written with normal system utilities.
  53. The other disk are write copy protected in XDF format.

  55. I have used the new IBM1FLPY.ADD on a PS1 with no problems, formats,
  56. reads, writes, runs all disk except 2.88 meg 3.5".
  57. Formats in 720 or 1.44 meg only, as origional system files.
  58. Works with pm format as well.
