Abstract:
---------
APAR Module(s) Abstract
------- ---------- ---------------------------------------
IC21013 LPINST.EXE/ RUN LPINST.EXE DURING INSTALLATION
TCPINST.RSP/
INSTDATA.INI
Description:
----------
On CID installation using a response file the number of LPD ports in the
printer settings page was not updated. Running of LPINST.EXE during installation
updates the ports according to the number specified in the response file.
Contents
--------
This file contains three files i.e. LPINST.EXE, TCPINST.RSP, and INSTDATA.INI
to be copied to appropriate directories before installation.
Installation instructions:
--------------------
1. Copy the IC21013.exe into a temporaray directory , say C:\TEMP.
Run the EXE by typing IC21013 and press ENTER.
It will create 4 files: LPINST.EXE, TCPINST.RSP, INSTDATA.INI and READ.ME
2. Go to the directory where TCP41.ZIP has been unzipped for installation.(say C:\TCP41)
3. In this directory go to the \tcpip subdirectory.(say C:\TCP41\TCPIP). This contains the install.cmd
for tcpip4.1 installation.
4. Further go to the \install subdirectory from here.(say C:\TCP41\TCPIP\INSTALL)
and copy TCPINST.RSP from the temp directory to this directory.
5. Next go to the \base subdirectory.(C:\TCP41\TCPIP\INSTALL\BASE) and copy LPINST.EXE from the
TEMP directory to this directory.
6. Return to the \install directory and go to the \ TCPINST\ BASEAPPS subdirectory i.e. come back
to C:\TCP41\TCPIP\INSTALL and go to C:\ TCP41\ TCPIP\ INSTALL\ TCPINST\ BASEAPPS.
7. Copy INSTDATA.INI from the TEMP directory to this directory.
8. Now CID installation can be done as usual using the response file.
9. After CID installation verify that the number of ports are as specified in the response file used.
VERIFICATION:
------------
The number of ports in the printer object can be verified by opening the properties notebook
of the printer. On the "Output settings" page the number of ports ( marked by \PIPE\LPDn) that
appear must correspond to the number specified.
