SERVER HANG WITH REMOTEBUSY WORKSTATION

FAILING MODULE= NETBEUI
ERROR DESCRIPTION:
This apar is being raised to document the fact that this defect
still exists in the NTS/2 code shipped with LAN Server V3.0.
The full problem is documented in JR06550.
Extract from 6550:
Symptom seen by customer: A few days after installing LS 3.0
over LS 1.3, the server started hanging. The OS was still active.
No errors are logged re the server having any problems.
Problem occurs when the client wkstns are in a RemoteBusy state.
This causes the Server to fill up the I-Frame Buffers with
SessionAlive frames. Eventually this will cause the Server to
hang if the client workstations remain in a RemoteBusy state.
Normally we would not see a client ws remain in a RemoteBusy
state except for ill-behaved applications.
Fixed by NETBEUI.OS2 available from Austin.
PROBLEM CONCLUSION: This is a duplicate of apar JR06550. This
apar documents the post-GA NTS/2 fix module.
INSTALLING THE FIX:
Stop the server.
Make a backup copy of your current NETBEUI.OS2:
x:\ibmcom\PROTOCOL\NETBEUI.OS2
Replace it with the fixed module for this apar.
Do an OS/2 desktop shutdown and restart the workstation.
Start the server.
