POINT3D.ZIP - A collection of enhanced pointers for OS/2 Warp
Released 9 June 1995.
BLUE, BRONZE, and SOLID are pointer sets converted
by Martin H. Speiser (100013.1276@compuserve.com).
They are colorful pointers, shaded to look 3-D.
Installation (for OS/2 Warp):
Each pointer set is purposely contained within a subdirectory. The
easiest way to install a new set is to open \OS2\POINTERS, and
then drag and drop the folder with the new set inside \OS2\POINTERS -
of course, you could just unzip the file within \OS2\POINTERS, but if
you are reading this text, you must have already unzipped the file,
so all the folders should be sitting there waiting to be dragged. :-)
Then, open the OS/2 SETTINGS folder (click with the right mouse
button on an empty spot on the desktop, then click on System Setup).
Open the MOUSE object, and click on the POINTERS tab. Click on
"Load Set", select the new set, then click on LOAD - that's it!
These pointers are released as freeware for unlimited use.
Comments may be sent either to by Martin H. Speiser
(he designed these pointers) - 100013.1276@compuserve.com
or to Michael.Kilby@f347.n109.z1.fidonet.org - that's my
address at Pete Norloff's OS/2 Shareware BBS,
703-385-4325, FidoNet 1:109/347
If you are interested in trying out other sets of pointers, I have also
designed the following sets, available on the OS/2 Shareware BBS:
DIAGPTR.ZIP - gives the mouse a different orientation, and
adds neat symbols for the "wait" and "illegal" pointers.
LEFTY.ZIP - Specifically designed for left-handed mouse users.
BabyBLUE.ZIP - a modified version of Martin's previous release
of BLUE.ZIP, with better shading, and slightly altered hotspots,
and a red "illegal" sign, instead of black. I also translated Martin's
original README from German to English.
Here are some other pointer sets that I have seen:
MOUSEPTR.ZIP - by rworne@primenet.com - a set that looks like a
bunch of little mice, with cute pink ears. However, don't show the
"illegal" pointer to anyone who get squeamish at the sight of roadkill.
BATONS.LZH, BATONS2.ZIP - by Brian J. Fitzgerald, Trappe, Pennsylvania.
GLOVES.ZIP, HANDY.ZIP - anonymous authors.
NOTE for users of OS/2 version 2.1: you *may* be able to use
these pointers (I have doubts about how colored pointers will work
under 2.x). However, you will need to use a REXX procedure (or
some other shareware program, such as SYSPTR10.ZIP) to assign
pointers under OS/2 version 2.x. If you know how to do that, and
want to risk trying the color versions out under OS/2 2.x, great!
If you don't know how, it would be easier (and safer) for you to
upgrade (to OS/2 Warp) than to figure out how to assign pointers
in OS/2 2.x - I know this from experience.
