  1. Free-D Warp icons

  4. For those of us who, for whatever reason, aren't yet running Warp v4,
  5. here are some icons that will give your Desktop just a hint of the
  6. snazzy 3-D look from the new version of Warp.
  7.  
  8. Please note that these are NOT the real McCoy; that is to say, these
  9. icons HAVE NOT been lifted from actual Merlin resources. I saw a Merlin
  10. screen shot, decided I liked the look, and started doodling. These are
  11. all either completely hand-drawn, or hand-drawn combined with clippings
  12. from OS/2 2.x and 3.0 icons.

  14. Most of the icons are for folders, with a few other key objects tossed
  15. in. This is because most of Warp's other objects (drives, printers, etc.)
  16. look sufficiently 3-D to work well with the new-style folders--especially
  17. considering I don't want to be drawing icons all year. :-)

  19. All icons include versions for the following display formats:
  20.     Independent Color Form (VGA)
  21.     Independent BW Form
  22.     Independent Small Color Form
  23.     Independent Small BW Form
  24.     XGA/8514 Small Color Form
  25.     XGA/8514 Small BW Form
  26.     XGA/8514 16 Colors
  27.     XGA/8514 256 Colors
  28. Note that "XGA" just means the size of the icon is 40x40 pels instead
  29. of 32x32 pels. The "Small" forms are the ones that appear on the control
  30. menu when the object is open. (For books, this applies to the Settings
  31. view only, since VIEW.EXE supplies the control menu icon when reading
  32. the document.)

  34. If you want the Book icon to be the default icon for objects that use
  35. VIEW.EXE to view .INF files, copy Book.ICO to x:\OS2\VIEW.ICO, where
  36. x: is your system's boot drive.  This can save you the considerable
  37. hassle of applying the icon to every book object.  Note: because the
  38. Workplace Shell caches certain icons, you may not see this default
  39. take effect until after a shutdown and reboot.
