  22. If you received this printer pak for resolution of APAR PJ21418,
  23. "HP III DRIVER PRINTOUT CORRUPTION WHEN PRINTING DARK BACKGROUD
  24. WINDOW IN A4 PAPER FORMAT", you MUST follow the INSTALLATION STEPS FOR
  25. APAR PJ21418 below.

  29. Because of a change maded in the laserjet driver, module BROKER.DLL is
  30. no longer needed. After installing this FixPak, you may wish to delete
  31. this module from your system.

  33. DISKETTE CREATION NOTES
  34. -----------------------
  35. 1) To create a diskette from the disk image file you need LOADDSKF.EXE.
  36.    This is also available from the same place you got this FixPak from
  37.    as
  38.  
  39.    LDF.COM - Self extracting file that will create LOADDSKF.EXE.
  40.              Place in a separate directory on your harddisk then
  41.              enter LDF.
  42.  
  43.       - or -

  45.    LOADDSKF.ZIP - File compressed with PKZIP, contains LOADDSKF.EXE.
  46.                   Requires PKUNZIP or UNZIP to extract original files
  47.                   from compressed file.

  49.    Use LOADDSKF.EXE to create a diskette. Insert a 2MB HD (1.44MB formatted
  50.    diskette in A:
  51.  
  52.    a. Enter LOADDSKF XR0Px12.DSK A: /F/Q/Y
  53.        Where x=A, B, C, etc.
  54.        Label OS/2 Printer FixPak XR0Px12
  55.  
  56. ENHANCED PRINTER DRIVER FIXPAK NAMING CONVENTION
  57. ------------------------------------------------
  58. So that customers can more readily identify if a new printer FixPak is
  59. available, an enhancement has been made to the naming convention for printer
  60. FixPaks.  Instead of the normal naming convention of XR0P0nn, XR0PAnn will
  61. be used for the printer FixPak name.   Subsequent printer FixPak releases
  62. will sequentially update the fifth value in the name to allow customers to
  63. differentiate between the different levels of FixPaks.

  83. Please see the README2 file for a list of APARs fixed
  84. in this FixPak.

  86. TO INSTALL THIS FIX PERFORM THE FOLLOWING STEPS :
  87. -----------------------------------------------
  88.  Use these printer drivers as you would your original printer driver
  89.   diskettes that were shipped with OS/2.
  90.  
  91.  - Unpack printer driver with LOADDSKF to a directory on your system or
  92.    to a diskette
  93.  - Open the printer object(s) and deselect all drivers you have
  94.    acquired this fix for and select another driver file as default.
  95.  - Close the printer object.
  96.  - Reboot the system without letting any print jobs print.
  97.  - Open the printer object settings and printer driver and select
  98.    install from one of the driver objects.
  99.  - The "Install New Printer Driver" dialog will appear.
  100.  - Select "Other OS/2 Printer Driver" and enter the drive and/or
  101.    directory that you have put the driver files into for the install.
  102.  - Press Install button and a message box will appear asking if you
  103.    would like to replace the driver with the new level and select yes.
  104.  - Close the "Install New Printer Driver" dialog and select the correct
  105.    driver for the print object
  106.  - Close print object.
  107.  
  108. You will now be ready to print using the driver.  If you need additional
  109. help installing the printer driver, please refer to the on-line help
  110. facility.

  114. If you are in a network environment, we suggest that you match printer
  115. driver levels between both the server and the requestors.

  117. TO INSTALL THIS FIX PERFORM THE FOLLOWING STEPS :

  121.  Use these printer drivers as you would your original printer driver

  131.    Laserjet. prefix and delete them.  When prompted to delete the
  132.    actual driver files, select yes or OK.
  133.  - Run the LJA4.CMD file to install driver configuration information
  134.    in the system ini file. e.g. A:>LJA4.CMD
  135.  - From the printer object settings -> printer driver and select
  136.    install from one of the driver objects.
  137.  - The "Install New Printer Driver" dialog will appear.
  138.  - Select "Other OS/2 Printer Driver" and enter the drive and/or
  139.    directory that you have put the driver files into for the install.
  140.  - Press Refresh button to refresh the driver list that is installed on
  141.    the diskette.
  142.  - Select the driver to install and press Install button
  143.  - After the files are copied, you will be prompted to reset Laserjet
  144.    entries in the ini file, select YES.
  145.  - Select OK to close the "Install New Printer Driver" dialog and
  146.    select the correct driver for the print object
  147.  - Close print object.
  148.  - Run the LJ-A4.CMD.   A:>LJ-A4.CMD
  149.  
  150. You will now be ready to print using the driver.  If you need additional
  151. help installing the printer driver, please refer to the on-line help
  152. facility.
