  1. Canon CaPSL printer driver for OS/2 1.3 and 2.0

  7. Note: If creating an installation disk from a ZIP file, execute the
  8. command file RESETEA on the installation disk before use.

  11. Installing under OS/2 1.3
  12. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

  14. If you have a previous version of the CaPSL driver already installed on your
  15. system, you must perform the following steps before proceeding with the
  16. installation.
  17.  
  18. 1.  Open the Print Manager
  19.  
  20. 2.  Select "Setup" from the menu bar
  21.  
  22. 3.  Select "Printers..." from the menu
  23.  
  24. 4.  Select each CaPSL printer listed in turn, pressing the "Delete" button
  25.     on the dialog to remove the printer
  26.  
  27. 5.  Press the "OK" button on the dialog to finish the dialog
  28.  
  29. 6.  Select "Setup" from the menu bar
  30.  
  31. 7.  Select "Queues..." from the menu
  32.  
  33. 8.  Select each queue to a CaPSL printer listed in turn, pressing the "Delete"
  34.     button on the dialog to remove the queue
  35.  
  36. 9.  Press the "OK" button on the dialog to finish the dialog
  37.  
  38. 10. Open the Control Panel
  39.  
  40. 11. Select "Installation" from the menu bar
  41.  
  42. 12. Select "Delete printer driver" from the menu
  43.  
  44. 13. Select the CaPSL printer driver and press the "Delete" button on the
  45.     dialog
  46.  
  47. 14. Answer "Yes" to delete the driver file as well
  48.  
  49. To install the new driver from the installation disk, you should perform
  50. the following steps
  51.  
  52. 1.  Open the Print Manager
  53.  
  54. 2.  Select "Setup" from the menu bar
  55.  
  56. 3.  Select "Printer Install..." from the menu
  57.  
  58. 4.  Press the "New..." button on the dialog
  59.  
  60. 5.  Specify the drive containing the installation disk and press "OK"
  61.  
  62. 6.  Select the model of your printer from the list given. The driver will
  63.     be copied to your system and the printer models will appear in the
  64.     printer list
  65.  
  66. 7.  Set the parallel port appropriately and press "OK" to create the
  67.     the printer and queue
  68.  
  69. If the system fails to copy the new driver to your hard disk it is probably
  70. due to a previous version of the driver being locked. Reboot your system
  71. and try the installation procedure again.

  74. Installing under OS/2 2.0
  75. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

  77. If you have a previous version of the CaPSL driver already installed on your
  78. system, you must perform the following steps before proceeding with the
  79. installation.

  81. 1.  Open a printer driver icon's settings dialog
  82.  
  83. 2.  Delete any installed CaPSL drivers shown on the printer drivers list,
  84.     either by dragging to the shredder or by selecting "Delete" on the
  85.     icon's menu. When deleting the last driver icon, allow the system
  86.     to delete the driver file as well
  87.  
  88. To install the new driver from the installation disk, you should perform
  89. the following steps
  90.  
  91. 1.  Open the drive icon containing the installation disk
  92.  
  93. 2.  Open the CaPSL printer driver icon (labelled "CAPSL.DRV"). (The
  94.     system may take a long time to open the icon, please wait.) The
  95.     system will display a window containing the CaPSL device names
  96.  
  97. 3.  Select the icon most appropriate for your printer and drag the icon
  98.     onto the desktop. This will install the printer driver on your system
  99.     and create a queue to the printer. (The system may not position the
  100.     printer icon at the place where you dropped it on the desktop.)
  101.  
  102. 4.  Open the settings dialog on the printer icon and configure the settings
  103.     according to your printer environment (i.e. output port, paper size,
  104.     font cards, etc.)

  106. If the system fails to copy the new driver to your hard disk it is probably
  107. due to a previous version of the driver being locked. Reboot your system
  108. and try the installation procedure again.

  112. Application Notes

  114.  
  115. 1. Graduated polygon fills are time-consuming under Corel Draw. When printing
  116.    pictures containing such objects, ensure the "Fountain Stripes" value
  117.    on the Print dialog is set to the minimum value that will produce a
  118.    reasonable quality. For most pictures a value between 8 and 16 should
  119.    suffice. Increase the value for pictures with high contrast.
