When printing in WordPerfect, you need a way of selecting and
creating different kinds and sizes of paper (forms) to print on.
The Paper Size/Type feature lets you do this. Since there are
so many possible types of paper you can print on, WordPerfect
needs information (size, orientation, location, etc.) about each
type you use.
The Paper Size/Type feature will display a list of all the paper
sizes and types defined for the currently selected printer.
You can create additional ones to be added to this list.
For example, if you have multiple bins (paper trays/feeders)
from which your printer can retrieve paper, you can create a
definition which directs your printer to the proper location
for a particular form.
Before using the driver you should check the Paper Size/Type
definitions to make sure they are appropriate for your paper
sizes and machine paper locations (bins).
WordPerfect has a default form that is used if you do not
select a paper size and type. For U.S. versions, this is
Standard 8.5" x 11" paper. For non-U.S. versions, the default
form varies.
To check the paper definitions proceed to Step 13.
13. At the WordPerfect primary screen press Shift and F8. The
[Format] screen appears. Type 2 to select Page. The [Format:
Page] screen is displayed.
14. Type 7 to select Paper Size/Type. You will be at the [Format:
Paper Size/Type] screen. This screen displays the pre-defined
forms (size, orientation, location, etc.) for the active
printer driver.
Pre-defined parameters such as Paper Location can be changed via
the Edit procedure. To do this, type 5 and the [Format: Edit
Paper Definition] screen will appear. After you edit the
appropriate parameters, press the Enter key to return to the
[Format: Paper Size/Type] screen.
If you need to define additional paper types, sizes, locations,
etc., proceed to Step 15. Otherwise, press F7 two times to
return to the WordPerfect primary screen. The driver is ready
to use. However, you should read the notes following Step 19
concerning paper sizes and types.
15. Type 2 to select Add. The [Format: Paper Type] screen will
appear. Here you have 9 options to choose from. Options 1
through 7 are pre-defined paper types. Option 8 will take you
to the previous screen. Option 9 will let you define additional
paper types.
16. If you choose Option 1 through 7, skip to Step 18. If you
select Option 9, proceed to Step 17.
17. You will be asked to define the name of the Other Paper Type.
Type the name and press Enter. Proceed to Step 18.
18. You should be at the [Format: Edit Paper Definition] screen.
At this screen several options can be set. You should pay
particular attention to the Location (5) where you specify the
Bin number (Bin 1 = Standard (Upper) Paper Tray, Bin 2= Manual
Paper, Bin 3 = Manual Envelope, Bin 4 = Secondary (Lower) Paper
Tray) and the Paper Size (1).
When defining a paper size, you should use the customary unit
of measure (inches or centimeters) for a particular paper
(example - inches for Letter size, cm for A4 size).
After making your selections, press the Enter key. The [Format:
Paper Size/Type] screen will return with the defined paper added
to the list.
Repeat Steps 15 through 18 for each additional paper bin using
paper size other than the default size, then proceed to Step 19.
19. Press F7 twice to return to the WordPerfect primary screen.
The driver is ready to use.
NOTES!
A Paper Size/Type code is inserted into a document and is used to
instruct WordPerfect to select and print on the correct form. When
WordPerfect encounters a Paper Size/Type code during a print job, it
uses the requested form from that point forward. Therefore, you
should place a Paper Size/Type code at the top of the document (or
page) and use no more than one Paper Size/Type code per page.
WordPerfect has a default form that is used if you do not select a
paper size and type. For U.S. versions, this is Standard 8.5" x 11"
paper. For non-U.S. versions, the default form varies.
To insert a Paper Size/Type code in a document proceed to Step 20.
20. Open the document and move the cursor to the top of the document
(or to the top of a page where you want to change the paper size
or type).
21. Press Shift-F8. The [Format] screen is displayed. Type 2. The
[Format: Page] screen appears.
22. Type 7 and you will be at the [Format: Paper Size/Type] screen.
23. This screen shows your pre-defined Paper Sizes/Types. If your
preferred paper is listed, proceed to Step 24. If the preferred
paper has not been defined, perform Steps 15 through 18 then
return to Step 24.
24. At the [Format: Paper Size/Type] screen, highlight the preferred
Paper Size/Type and type 1 to select it. The [Format: Page]
screen returns with your Paper Size/Type selection shown (7).
Press Enter twice to return to your document.
Remember, the Paper Size/Type code should be the first function at
the top of the document (or page) and you should have no more than
one Paper Size/Type code per page. Inserting a second code does not
replace a previous one. It merely adds a second one. You can verify
your Paper Size/Type code entry by turning on Reveal Codes (press
Alt/F3 or F11). This splits the screen with the top half showing your
document and the bottom half revealing WordPerfect codes that are
contained in your document. Extra or unwanted codes can be removed by
highlighting them with the cursor and pressing the Delete key.
Pressing Alt/F3 or F11 again will turn off Reveal Codes.
