  26. SECTION 1.  NDIS Drivers and NE2000 Compatibility
  27. -------------------------------------------------

  29. The NDIS drivers supplied with this network adapter conform
  30. to the NDIS 2.01 specification.  They are compatible with
  31. network operating system or connectivity software which is
  32. written to the same specification.
  33.  
  34. These drivers are compatible with both the NE2000 and
  35. NE2000plus Ethernet adapters.  When using them with the
  36. NE2000, shared memory mode is not supported, and fewer
  37. options exist for configuring the INTERRUPTs and BASE I/O
  38. ADDRESS.  See the section on PROTOCOL.INI parameters, below.

  41. SECTION 2.  Using the NE2000plus Adapter in Shared Memory
  42. Mode
  43. ------------------------------------------------------------

  46. Use the PLUSDIAG program to configure the NE2000plus adapter
  47. for shared memory data transfer mode.  When the card has
  48. been set to run in shared memory mode, the driver will read
  49. the RAM parameter in the PROTOCOL.INI file to locate the
  50. memory area to use for data transfer.  If the adapter is
  51. configured for programmed I/O transfer mode, the RAM
  52. parameter is read by the driver, but not used.
  53.

  55. SECTION 3.  Microsoft LAN Manager
  56. ---------------------------------
  57.  
  58. To install this driver on a Microsoft LAN Manager 2.2
  59. system, insert the driver diskette and select "Other Driver"
  60. when at the network adapter installation screen.  LAN
  61. Manager will read the diskette and display "Eagle Technology
  62. NE2000plus Adapter" in the window.  Highlight this choice
  63. and select OK.  LAN Manager will now copy the software and
  64. support files to your hard disk.  You will then be prompted
  65. to select the protocol(s) you wish to use and be asked to
  66. confirm your selections.
  67.  
  68. When you have completed the LAN Manager installation, you
  69. must edit your PROTOCOL.INI file to set certain parameters.
  70. On a DOS workstation the file is located in the \LANMAN.DOS
  71. directory, and on an OS/2 workstation or server it is in the
  72. \LANMAN directory.  You must set the parameters in the
  73. PROTOCOL.INI file to match the values selected when you
  74. installed and configured the board.  Specify those values by
  75. placing them on the appropriate line in the PROTOCOL.INI
  76. file.

  90. Running Multiple NE2000 Adapters with Microsoft LAN Manager
  91. 2.2:
  92.  
  93. The LAN Manager Setup program will load the drivers and set
  94. up the CONFIG.SYS and PROTOCOL.INI files for you.  You must
  95. remember, however, to set/verify the INTERRUPT, IOADDRESS,
  96. and RAM parameters in the PROTOCOL.INI file manually for
  97. each of the adapters you have installed.
  98.  
  99. If you wish to configure the drivers manually, follow the
  100. instructions below:
  101.  
  102. Load the device driver additional times for each additional
  103. NE2000 adapter in your system.
  104.

  113. Edit the PROTOCOL.INI file in C:\LANMAN as follows using
  114. configuration values determined during configuration.

  133. Reboot and start your LAN Manager system.
  134.

  136. SECTION 4.  Microsoft Windows for Workgroups
  137. --------------------------------------------
  138.  
  139. The driver disk contains all the driver and support files to
  140. install in a Windows for Workgroups 3.1 environment.  When
  141. installing or reconfiguring your Windows for Workgroups
  142. system, follow the instructions to install a UNDEFINED OR
  143. UPDATED NETWORK ADAPTER.  This can be done either during
  144. initial installation when the network adapter selection menu
  145. appears, or from the NETWORK ADAPTER configuration program
  146. in the CONTROL PANEL.
  147.  
  148. When you select UNDEFINED OR UPDATED NETWORK ADAPTER on the
  149. drivers menu, you will be prompted to put the NE2000plus
  150. Supplemental Driver Disk in the drive and press ENTER.
  151. Select "Eagle Technology NE2000plus Ethernet Adapter," and
  152. your driver files will be copied onto your hard disk.
  153.  
  154. To complete the installation, set the Interrupt (IRQ), Base
  155. I/O Port, and Base Memory Address.  Make sure these values
  156. match those you selected during card installation.  (If you
  157. are using programmed I/O data transfer mode, the Base Memory
  158. Address setting will be ignored.)  Click on OK to accept
  159. these choices, CLOSE to close the configuration window, then
  160. OK to complete installation.  Click on OK two times to
  161. update CONFIG.SYS and PROTOCOL.INI.
  162.  
  163. NOTE:  If you are replacing network adapters or updating
  164. drivers, it is necessary for you to completely de-install
  165. your driver software before reinstalling it.  From the
  166. NETWORK SETTINGS menu, select ADAPTER, to view the NETWORK
  167. ADAPTER menu.  From here, highlight the adapter and select
  168. REMOVE and then CLOSE the window.  Return completely to the
  169. CONTROL PANEL, then re-select the NETWORK menu, select
  170. ADAPTER and ADD to reinstall or update the driver software.
  171.  
  172. The software driver installation is complete at this time,
  173. however you must reboot your system for these changes to
  174. take effect.

  176.  
  177. SECTION 5.  IBM LAN Server and other IBM Networking Products
  178. ------------------------------------------------------------
  179.  
  180. To install the driver software in am IBM LAN Server 3.0
  181. environment, perform the following operations:
  182.  
  183. 1)  Copy the \IBM\OS2\NE2000.NIF file on this disk into the
  184.    C:\IBMCOM\MAC directory on the IBM LAN SERVER.
  185.  
  186. 2)  Copy the \IBM\OS2\NE2000.OS2 file on this disk into the
  187.    C:\IBMCOM\MAC directory on the IBM LAN SERVER.
  188.  
  189. 3)  Click on the LAN Server Icon.
  190.  
  191. 4)  Click on OK at the IBM window.
  192.  
  193. 5)  Click on ADVANCED.
  194.  
  195. 6)  Click on OK at the INSTALL TYPE window.
  196.  
  197. 7)  Click on CONFIGURE A CONPONENT text, then click on OK.
  198.  
  199. 8)  Click on LAN ADAPTER AND PROTOCOL SUPPORT text, then
  200.    click on CONFIGURATION
  201.  
  202. 9)  Click on OK in the OPTIONS window
  203.  
  204. 10) REMOVE any unwanted adapters from the bottom window if
  205.    neccessary.
  206.  
  207. 11) Click on the arrow of the upper left window to make
  208.    EAGLE NE2000 text appear.
  209.  
  210. 12) Click on the EAGLE NE2000 text, then click on ADD.
  211.  
  212. 13) Click on the desired protocols in the upper right
  213.    window, then click on ADD.
  214.  
  215. 14) Double click on the EAGLE NE2000 text in the bottom
  216.    window to open the parameters window.
  217.  
  218. 15) Set the INTERRUPT, RAM address, and SLOT values to match
  219.    the EISA configuration values for the card.
  220.  
  221. 16) Click on OK.
  222.  
  223. 17) Click on OK to finish SELECTION.
  224.  
  225. 18) Click on OK to complete CONFIGURATION.
  226.  
  227. 19) Click on OK to finish LAN ADAPTER NUMBER.
  228.  
  229. 20) Click on OK in CONFIGURE window.
  230.  
  231. 21) Click on OK to APPLY THE CHANGES.
  232.  
  233. 22) Click on OK to UPDATE CONFIG.SYS, AUTOEXEC.BAT, and
  234.    PROTOCOL.INI.
  235.  
  236. 23) Shutdown computer and restart.

  239. To install the driver software with the IBM Local Area
  240. Network Support Program, perform the following operations:
  241.  
  242. 1)  Install this diskette in drive A:.
  243.  
  244. 2)  Run the IBM LAN Support Program installation helper
  245.    program DXMAID.EXE.
  246.  
  247. 3)  Select YES for the Additional Diskettes option.
  248.  
  249. 4)  Enter A:\IBM\DOS when prompted for the drive and path
  250.    for the additional disk.
  251.  
  252. 3)  Continue by using the standard IBM LAN Support Program
  253.    setup proceedure.

  256. SECTION 6.  Other products which utilize NDIS
  257. ---------------------------------------------
  258.  
  259. Installation support files have been provided for the
  260. Microsoft LAN Manager, Windows for Workgroups,and IBM LAN
  261. Server environments.  Most other network operating system
  262. products or network connectivity products which utilize NDIS
  263. network drivers either use these files and the associated
  264. directory structures, or provide their own installation
  265. instructions.
