  5. Use this TickerTape object to provide scrolling text messages in real-time! Create
  6. real-time scrolling displays for:

  8. + Stock quotes
  9. + News feeds
  10. + Weather reports
  11. + System notification alerts and updates

  13. and other similar usage.

  15. You specify:

  17. + The ticker display text as a string (NOT IN THIS DEMO!)
  18. + Font
  19. + Foreground and background colors.
  20. + Ticker feed rate.

  23. This package consists of a LIMITED DEMO edition of the TickerTape Object for VX-REXX.
  24. The package is only to be used as an evaluation demo. As such it may be freely copied
  25. and distributed. It is not to be reverse engineered or used in any commercial package.

  27. This LIMITED DEMO edition of the TickerTape Object for VX-REXX "Standard Edition" is
  28. not a full function demo object. The most obvious limitation is that you are not allowed
  29. to modify the TickerInfo string property! The string scrolled is not modifiable in this
  30. demo.

  32. This object is commercially available in two editions:
  33. + Standard Edition
  34. + Professional Edition
  35.  
  36. The Standard Edition package is similar to this demo. It does contain a modifiable TickerInfo
  37. property (allowing you to modify the text of the ticker message).

  39. The Professional Edition package provides support for distributed information sources. It is
  40. compatible with the IBM LAKES API for collaborative computing, support for real-time information
  41. source streams and distribution "broadcasting" over various mediums (LAN, RS-232, ISDN, etc).
