Ready to network
Whether you're looking to share files or printers with other users in
your small workgroup or wide area network (WAN), OS/2 Warp Connect
Version 3 offers a simple, easy-to-install "one-box" software solution
for your LAN.
OS/2 Warp Connect contains the latest version of the software that has
earned more than 65 top industry honors. The 32-bit multitasking
operating system, OS/2 Warp, retains all the features that have made
it so valuable and powerful for businesses large and small. But today
it's even better -- optimized to give you terrific performance and
packed with a host of new features that make it easier to use and more
useful than ever.
OS/2 Warp Connect offers a wealth of connectivity options packaged in
this one box. That can translate into reduced costs for you. And
because IBM has performed all the necessary testing for product
integration, you can save time, too.
Designed with workgroups and small businesses in mind, OS/2 Warp
Connect comes with a set of LAN products that offer peer-to-peer,
local and remote network access and more.
OS/2 Warp Connect is a comprehensive desktop environment that links
you to colleagues and the information resources and services you rely
on -- via a host of network functions -- all packaged with OS/2 Warp
and ready to help you get to work:
*IBM Peer for OS/2 allows you to share files, printers and modems
with other IBM peers, IBM LAN requesters, Windows for
Workgroups Windows NT and more.
*OS/2 LAN Server Requester and NetWare Client for OS/2 offer easy
integration with both OS/2 LAN Server and NetWare LANs, enabling
users across your enterprise to share resources.
*Network SignON Coordinator enables you to sign on to multiple
networks, change passwords, and sign off one or more systems -- in
a single, simple operation!
*Using LAN Distance Remote, you'll be able to connect with your
LAN or other mobile users when you're away from the office -- ideal
for travel and telecommuters.
*With TCP/IP for OS/2, you'll be able to travel the information
highway via dial-up or your LAN.
*And with AskPSP, you'll have your own online help desk that answers
common questions about OS/2 Warp and other IBM products.
It's a total solution that is robust and reliable. Plus, it offers
streamlined installation and outstanding value for your money!
Makes the most of your applications
With OS/2 Warp Connect, you can run your DOS and Windows
applications -- plus a whole new range of OS/2 32-bit applications --
from a single operating system in a stable, crash-protected
environment -- the ideal solution for multivendor LANs. You'll
protect the investment you've already made in software and be able to
leverage the 32-bit capabilities of your hardware and software.
Novice and power users alike will benefit from the customizeable,
intuitive Workplace Shell -- one of the most inviting graphical
interfaces available. And now it's been visually redesigned to make it
even easier and fun to use with 3-D and animated icons, the comet
cursor and the toolbar.
With OS/2 Warp Connect, you can run several applications at the same
time -- update your calendar, check your address book, review your
mail, send a fax, and share information between desktops and laptops
-- without compromising performance.
There are two OS/2 Warp Connect products to choose from, depending on
what your system currently has installed and what type of applications
you want to run. Both of these include the support needed to
run a wide variety of OS/2 and DOS applications. If you already have
Windows installed, choose the OS/2 Warp Connect product that uses your
existing Windows program. If you don't have Windows installed and
want to run Windows applications, select the OS/2 Warp Connect product
that includes IBM's WIN-OS/2 code, which provides the support
required to run most Windows applications.
Communicate with the world from the fast lane
OS/2 Warp Connect can be your passport to the global community of
the Internet, thanks to TCP/IP for OS/2 (included). This
information-highway access solution allows you to navigate through the
Internet via high-speed modem support or your LAN. Now, even if you'r
e a novice Internet user, you can surf the net and access information
from just about anywhere.
Using the IBM WebExplorer and Gopher features -- both with easy-to-use
graphical interfaces -- you'll be able to find and retrieve data from
thousands of databases worldwide. With Telnet and FTP, you can log on
to other computers on the Internet -- then plan travel arrangements or
download software.
You can also tap into more than 4,000 news groups with NewsReader --
join a business forum or solve system glitches with online help. You
can send e-mail around the world as easily as you make a phone call,
with delivery in seconds. What's more, IBM's WebExplorer allows you
to participate in the growing Internet World-Wide Web -- letting you
access company home pages, shopping opportunities and valuable
information. Hyperlinks make Internet navigation a snap.
It's got what it takes
There's more. The separate BonusPak product that's shipped with OS/2
Warp Connect gives you a set of full-function applications called IBM
Works -- which includes word processing, spreadsheet, charting, data
filing and report writing -- all integrated to work together with the
same easy-to-learn graphical interface. Add to that fax and
communications software -- including HyperACCESS Lite for OS/2 --
giving you an easy way to access online services, bulletin boards, and
other PCs and mainframes -- plus Personal Information Manager, e-mail,
CompuServe Information Manager software, and Person to Person
for OS/2.
BonusPak also includes the Multimedia Viewer that lets you organize,
manage and view software motion video and images and play audio files
-- plus you'll be able to capture, clip and play synchronized video
and audio with Video IN for OS/2. There's the System Information
Tool, a utility that assists with system and software problem
resolution. You can install as many of these applications as you
wish. So much in one package!
Take the Express route
OS/2 Warp Connect includes Lotus Notes Express, a groupware
application that helps organizations communicate and collaborate
within and beyond their organizational boundaries to achieve improved
business results.
As part of the OS/2 Warp Connect package, Lotus Notes Express contains
seven ready-to-use applications: e-mail for company-wide
communications; reference document library and news databases to fill
with the latest news, sales information, company policies, training
materials and more, so everyone can find what they're looking for;
shared discussion databases to brainstorm ideas and coordinate
projects without meeting face to face; customer and service request
tracking for improved customer service and management of service and
support workloads; and an electronic company phone book.
Performance you can rely on
Whether you're working individually or collaboratively, OS/2 Warp
Connect is a powerful and productive solution. So why wait to harness
its capabilities? Reap the benefits of this new OS/2 Warp
operating system with LAN and remote access -- and in one complete
package that can save you time and money!
