  3.     Test Engine/2                                       1995-03-08

  6.     Test Engine/2 is a programming tool designed for high level 
  7.     debugging and for function, module and integration testing 
  8.     for C/C++ and REXX/VX-REXX programs.
  9.  
  10.     Test Engine/2 has been fully tested and used in production 
  11.     environments by our    clients over the past 2 years for ISO 9000 
  12.     conformant testing for Quality Assurance (Also FDA standards).
  13.     
  14.     It permits you to locate functional and logical bugs quickly 
  15.     and efficiently. This allows you to reserve the time consuming 
  16.     use of a debugger for tracking down complex problems such as 
  17.     access violations, stack overflows etc..

  19.     The function and MACRO API for Test Engine/2 are included in 
  20.     TSTNGEN.NDX which makes them available to the on-line help for 
  21.     editors such as epm, Source Link etc. that support on-line 
  22.     programming help.

  24.     Tracing of messages is configurable from both the Test Engine/2 
  25.     program interface and through the API. There are several 
  26.     possible modes of operation for test tracing. 
  27.  
  28.         1. Each thread of a process can be registered 
  29.            independently with Test Engine/2 with a unique name 
  30.            that is meaningful to the programmer and can have its 
  31.            own trace file.

  35.            that is meaningful to the programmer and a trace file 
  36.            can be opened for the process.

  38.         3. Traces can be sent using the API functions and/or 
  39.            Macros without registering any threads. In this case 
  40.            the destination of the traces is determined from 
  41.            within Test Engine/2 by setting the default trace 
  42.            file and enabling the global trace on/off menu item.

  44.         4. A mix of the above tracing modes may be used, some 
  45.            threads being registered with trace files, others 
  46.            registered with no file and some that are not registered 
  47.            at all.

  49.     Message formats are fully configurable and you can trace
  50.     
  51.         1. The PID of the tracing process
  52.         2. The TID of the tracing thread
  53.         3. The date and time the trace was sent 
  54.            (to 100th of a second)
  55.         4. Any message containing data from the program formatted 
  56.            with printf style flags
  57.         
  58.     Test Engine/2 is delivered as a multi-lingual product and can 
  59.     be started in any of installed languages. The language can 
  60.     also be dynamically changed on-line.

  62.     The following languages are initially supplied:

  64.         o English
  65.         o French
  66.         o German
  67.  
  68.     The package also includes a set of utility DLLs:
  69.  
  70.         o RAW mode printing in C/C++ and REXX
  71.         o PASCAL style textfile access
  72.         
  73.     and programs:

  75.         o An IPF pre-compiler
  76.         o A dir tree deletion utility
  77.     
  78.     Test Engine/2 will be integrated into Quality Assurance Manager/2;
  79.     our client/server software quality assurance management tool.

  81.     A Demo version is available on the OS/2 Vendors A forum library 1 
  82.     (Other Vendors) which allows you to purchase Test Engine/2 
  83.     through CompuServe shareware registration (SWREG #5027).

  85.     This demo version has the following limits:
  86.         
  87.         o 25 registered threads (256 in registered version)
  88.         o 4 registered processes (25 in registered version)
  89.         o 2 spawned child sessions (25 in registered version)
  90.         o Settings cannot be saved from one session to another
  91.         o Startup and shutdown "nag" dialog
  92.         o No possibility of changing the monitor window font
  93.         o No utilities (EXE or DLL)
  94.             
  95.     Otherwise the product is fully functional.
