  8.  OBERON SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES TE/2 PRO
  9.  
  10.  November 10, 1995, Mankato, MN - Oberon Software announced today its plans
  11.  to release TE/2 Pro! Version 2.  TE/2 Pro! is Oberon Software's new,
  12.  object-oriented, Workplace Shell aware, telecommunications program for
  13.  OS/2 Warp.  TE/2 Pro!, based on the same telecommunications engine, file
  14.  transfer protocols, and terminal emulations as Oberon's very successful,
  15.  original TE/2, adds the desktop object behaviors and drag and drop
  16.  interfaces which OS/2 Warp users are used to while maintaining the
  17.  robustness and reliability of the original product.

  19.  TE/2 Pro! is currently in Pre-Release; anyone who purchases the latest
  20.  version of TE/2 is entitled to download the Pre-Release from Oberon
  21.  Software.  Oberon plans to release TE/2 Pro! early in the first quarter
  22.  of 1996.  The TE/2 Pro! package will include, in addition to the new
  23.  software, a full version of  the original TE/2, which will be renamed
  24.  "TE/2 Classic", and is expected to have a suggested retail price of $129.

  26.  In addition to long-standing TE/2 features such as robust,  high-speed
  27.  telecommunications support, seven terminal emulation modes, fast, reliable
  28.  file transfer protocols, and extensive REXX scripting capabilities, some
  29.  of the new features for TE/2 Pro! will include:

  31.    Object Oriented User Interface.  Terminal sessions and dialing
  32.     directories appear as objects. These objects use standard OS/2 notebook
  33.     controls for their settings, may be opened in various views, dragged to
  34.     the printer or shredder as OS/2 users would expect.  Dialing directory
  35.     entries can be copied or moved easily between directories or dialed by
  36.     simply dragging them to a terminal object.

  38.    Support for multiple, simultaneous sessions.  One invocation of TE/2
  39.     Pro! can support a virtually unlimited number of terminal sessions.
  40.     Terminal objects which do not compete for the same device may be active
  41.     simultaneously.

  43.    Asynch, TCP/IP, and Named Pipe support built in.  Any terminal object
  44.     may be set to access a modem port, a TCP/IP socket (if the user has
  45.     TCP/IP installed), or a Named Pipe server.

  47.    Multiwindow chat and scrollback.  Rather than the split-screen and/or
  48.     "modal" ways of handling these features, TE/2 Pro! uses standard OS/2
  49.     windows which can be sized, moved, retained, or closed as the user
  50.     desires.  Of course, copy and paste via the OS/2 clipboard is available
  51.     throughout.
