  3.   Software Installer V1.2 for OS/2* is now available

  5.   PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

  7.   Why spend your valuable time developing installation processes for
  8.   your applications when Software Installer makes the job much easier?
  9.   Software Installer for OS/2 provides a workstation installation tool
  10.   that enables application developers to automate the installation and
  11.   maintenance process for their applications.  This tool provides
  12.   services for INSTALLING, UPDATING, RESTORING, and DELETING
  13.   components of workstation products that are installed from CD-ROM,
  14.   diskette, Local Area Network environments or from MVS, OS/400*, VM,
  15.   or VSE/ESA* host systems.  Software Installer is designed to support
  16.   the Configuration, Installation and Distribution (CID) architecture
  17.   and will create a CID enabled installation for your application.

  133.   o   IBM Operating System/2* (OS/2) Version 2.0 or 2.1.

  135.       NOTE:  If you use OS/2 Version 2.0, then the OS/2 Version 2.0
  136.              ServicePak XR06055 is recommended.  Without the
  137.              ServicePak, your installation will not return the
  138.              appropriate results from user exits even though the exit
  139.              completes correctly. Also, Workplace Shell objects created
  140.              during an installation will not use the specified icon.

  142.   o   IBM Developer's Toolkit for OS/2 Version 2.0.
  143.  
  144.       NOTE:  The Developer's Toolkit for OS/2 is required for creating
  145.              a customized product installation.  However, the product's
  146.              users do not need to have the toolkit on their systems to
  147.              install your products.

  149.   o   To install from an AS/400* host system, you need IBM PC Support/400
  150.       (Program Number 5738-PC1) Version 2 Release 2.

  152.   o   To install from a VM, MVS, or VSE/ESA host system, you need IBM
  153.       Extended Services for OS/2* with Communications Manager
  154.       installed.

  156.   LICENSE INFORMATION
  157.   --------------------
  158.   This is a summary of the Software Installer license information.
  159.   Complete licensing information is included with the product.  Each
  160.   Software Installer license allows you to use Software Installer on
  161.   one workstation at a time and distribute the re-distributable
  162.   modules as part of one or more software applications.  To use
  163.   Software Installer on additional workstations, you need additional
  164.   Software Installer licenses.  A special license is available for
  165.   corporate usage.

  167.   You can install Software Installer on a LAN data server so that
  168.   multiple developers can access the code to enable their applications
  169.   to Software Installer services.  However, you need a Software
  170.   Installer license for each workstation on which Software Installer
  171.   is used to enable an application.  You do not need a Software
  172.   Installer license for workstations that run applications containing
  173.   the re-distributable modules.

  175.   There are no extra charges or royalty payments for redistributing
  176.   the required executable modules in an application.
