  100. VoiceType Dictation for OS/2 and VoiceType Dictation for Windows run
  101. on IBM-compatible desktop, notebook or subnotebook personal computers
  102. with 486 or Pentium(TM).  processors. It is an isolated-word,
  103. speaker-dependent system that utilizes sophisticated statistical
  104. language models and a speech adapter card-both designed by IBM-to
  105. rapidly analyze spoken input.

  111. The language models, an extensive 22,000-word general vocabulary and a
  112. detailed understanding of each user's voice, allow VoiceType Dictation
  113. to accurately convert speech to text as quickly as 70 to 100 words a
  114. minute- faster than most people can type. Users simply talk into a
  115. hand-held or headset microphone. The system analyzes their speech in
  116. seconds and displays it onscreen as text.

  118. Properly recognized words are automatically displayed correctly. Even
  119. like-sounding words that are difficult to distinguish-such as "to,"
  120. "too" and "two" or "our" and "hour"-are easily understood.

  122. With voice commands, users can edit or correct dictated text while it
  123. is displayed in the VoiceType Dictation speech window. VoiceType
  124. Dictation can even "play back" a user's dictation for easier
  125. proofreading.  Dictated text can then be transferred into OS/2 or
  126. Windows applications for processing.

  204. The Voice Action Editor is a powerful yet simple voice-controlled
  205. macro application. Individual users can create dictation macros with
  206. the Voice Action Editor by prerecording repetitive phrases or
  207. "boilerplate" paragraphs and later recalling them with a single spoken
  208. word.

  210. With the same ease, developers or systems experts can build
  211. application-specific macros that invoke and control other programs.
  212. The system prompts you by displaying all possible voice or
  213. keyboard-activated commands. Plus, you can store a series of
  214. keystrokes as a voice-command macro.

  217. "Good morning," for example, could automatically call up a calendar
