  10. Disk Management Software for OS/2 Desktop Systems

  12. OTTAWA, July 1. 1994, PRO Engineering the recent startup 
  13. founded by former Corel lead developer, Daniel Levesque, 
  14. announced today EZRAID Lite for OS/2, a software-based disk 
  15. management solution for the OS/2 desktop market. For users 
  16. of OS/2 2.x and OS/2 for Windows, EZRAID Lite has a 
  17. suggested retail price of only $195 and will be generally 
  18. available on August 1st, 1994.
  19.     EZRAID Lite brings the benefits of RAID technology to the
  20. desktop level at a breakthrough price point. Offering disk 
  21. mirroring, data striping and disk spanning, EZRAID Lite 
  22. creates disk arrays with unparalleled ease and flexibility. 
  23. The software supports all disk interfaces including IDE, 
  24. ESDI and SCSI.
  25.     "Now any OS/2 user can combine two standard hard disks 
  26. and take advantage of the fault-tolerance, complete data-
  27. reliability and the increased storage capacity offered with 
  28. RAID technology," said PRO Engineering president Daniel 
  29. Levesque. He adds, "With OS/2 for Windows now available 
  30. world-wide, any DOS or Windows application will benefit from 
  31. the advanced disk management features found in EZRAID Lite."
  32.     For simplified data management EZRAID Lite is able to strip
  33. or span data across any two hard disks creating a single 
  34. large logical drive. And with the software's ability to 
  35. mirror existing logical drives without the need to reformat, 
  36. EZRAID Lite provides real-time backups of all user files.
  37.     Implemented as a logical disk device driver, EZRAID 
  38. Lite controls RAIDs at the partition level. This unique 
  39. approach allows RAID logical drives to co-exist with 
  40. existing partitions on hard disks. In addition any 
  41. combination of mirroring, striping and spanning can be used 
  42. on the same set of physical disk drives.
  43.     As the world's first desktop RAID product, EZRAID Lite is a
  44. personal version of EZRAID for OS/2, a product that supports 
  45. RAID levels 0, 1, 4 and 5 and retails for $795. The product 
  46. is PRO Engineering's latest addition to their growing family 
  47. of software based RAID solutions.
