ANNOUNCING THE DISTRIBUTED APPLICATION/2 CICS ACCESS BETA PROGRAM
July 30, 1993
IBM Programming Systems, Cary, NC, in association with APPC Market
Enablement, RTP, NC, is pleased to announce a beta test program for a
new feature of Distributed Application/2. The new facility will allow
an OS/2 program to start and share data with MVS-based CICS applications
through the Distributed Application/2 APIs. This makes it easy
for OS/2 programmers to build new application programs that capitalize
on existing CICS transaction programs.
Distributed Application/2 (DA/2) is a set of 32 bit OS/2* APIs that
provide a consistent way to program local or networked client/server
applications. Distributed Application/2 uses the following
communications protocols:
- APPC (DA/2-to-DA/2, or DA/2 to native APPC applications)
- NetBIOS for IBM and Novell NetWare** LAN
- Local OS/2* named pipes
Programmers can use C, REXX or any other 32 bit language that supports
32 bit C interfaces.
The product is ready for beta NOW! We would like to involve you and
your customers in the beta test program. To find out more information,
