  2. COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER/2 V1.11 WR06150 AVAILABILITY
  3.  
  4. Communications Manager/2 (CM/2) is the premier communications manager
  5. for OS/2 (R) workstations. CM/2 V1.11 will be available 6/1/94 under
  6. PTF number WR06150, for CM/2 1.10 licensed customers. WR6150 is a
  7. total refresh of CM/2 that can be obtained, at no charge, through
  8. normal service channels. WR06150 will be available on either diskette
  9. or CD-ROM.

  11. CM/2 1.11 is a service release for CM/2 1.10. In addition to
  12. containing normal service fixes, CM/2 1.11 includes additional
  13. function which customers should consider in making a purchase or
  14. upgrade decision.

  16. Below is a summary of the new function provided in CM/2 1.11. Refer to
  17. the file CM2111 PACKAGE on MKTTOOLS for a more detailed description.

  19. SNA Phone Connect
  20. -----------------
  21.  
  22. The new SNA Phone Connect feature in CM/2 1.11 addresses mobile
  23. computing requirements by enabling customers to use SNA applications
  24. from home, on the road, or wherever there is a phone line.

  26. o SNA Applications across Asynchronous and Hayes (**) AutoSync
  27. Connections
  28.  
  29. SNA Phone Connect enables customers to use SNA applications across
  30. asynchronous and Hayes AutoSync connections. With this support
  31. customers can use applications such as 3270/5250 emulation and SNA
  32. LU6.2 APPC, between CM/2 1.11 and an AS/400 (R), Advantis (**) IN
  33. Gateway, or a S/370 (R) host.

  35. o V.25bis Autodial and Autoanswer Support
  36.  
  37. SNA Phone Connect supports SDLC and X.25 over the IBM Wide Area
  38. Connector (WAC) adapter at a maximum speed of 64 Kbps. It also
  39. supports SDLC over the IBM MultiProtocol Communications Adapter, and
  40. the IBM PS/2 MultiProtocol Adapter/A. SNA Phone Connect implements the
  41. V.25bis protocol to communicate with these adapters.

  43. Additional Hardware Support
  44. ---------------------------

  46. CM/2 1.11 supports the IBM 5250 Emulation PCMCIA adapter and IDLC over
  47. the IBM WaveRunner (R) Digital Modem.

  49. X.25 Enhancements
  50. -----------------

  52. CM/2 1.11 supports V.25bis Autodial, X.32 Exchange ID (XID) and X.25
  53. facilities (including Network User ID and Closed User Group). This
  54. release also supports the ARTIC X.25 Interface Coprocessor ISA bus
  55. adapter, and the WAC ISA bus adapter.

  57. 3270/5250 Emulator Enhancements

  60. The CM/2 1.11 3270 emulator has integrated APL support and
  61. Import/Export support for transferring Text and PC documents between
  62. workstations and OfficeVision/MVS (R).

  64. Operating System Support
  65. ------------------------

  67. CM/2 1.11 supports OS/2 version 2.0 or higher.

  69. Miscellaneous

  72. The CM/2 1.11 CD-ROM package now includes CM/2 and NTS/2 diskette
  73. images, CM/2 Redbooks, and a wide variety of APPC, APPN, and CPI-C
  74. books.

  76. The Distributed Workstation option has been enhanced to allow creation
  77. and modification of configurations after initial install on the
  78. distributed workstation (previously restricted to the server).

  80. CM/2 1.11 is available in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese,
  81. Korean and Spanish versions. The Korean and Spanish versions are new
  82. in this release.
