" Parallel Tape Drives now supported in BackMaster for OS/2! "
June 20, 1994 - MSR Development announces the latest version of
BackMaster for OS/2. Version 1.1 of BackMaster will ship in late July
at an MSRP of $ 79.95. This new version will add support for several
parallel port connected tape drives as well as additional performance
enhancements.
MSR Development has added support for the popular MicroSolutions
BackPack parallel connected tape drive. Parallel drives from IOMEGA,
CONNER, TECMAR, and CORE will also be supported by BackMaster 1.1.
Colorado Trakker support is under development and expected by fourth
quarter of this year.
Other new user benefits and enhancements include:
- reduced time for tape operations by up to 60% with support
for high speed tape adapters;
- allowing users to create custom file selections and save them
for future automated backups with file save sets
- instant startup of the custom backup routine using simple drag
and drop
- automated operation and backup of multiple drives using command
line options
- bi-directional data exchange between DOS, WINDOWS, and OS/2
using industry standard tape formats
- assured data integrity of the entire backup volume through
automatic verification after backup
- simplified configuration using standard notebook controls
- fast location of backup volumes using the tape directory

BackMaster 1.1 for OS/2 supports these popular QIC 40/80 floppy
connected tape drives: Archive XL series; Colorado JUMBO 120/250;
Core Tape250; Conner TapeStore 250; Iomega Tape250;
Mountain FileSafe 4000/8000/TD250; Summit SE120/250; and many
other Generic QIC 40/80 as a 2nd floppy.

program and documentation to the new version for $9.95.
An upgrade file will be available on the MSR BBS to upgrade the
program to version 1.1 at no charge.
