OS/2 LAN Server 1.3 Parameter Interdependencies (01/09)

This topic covers the IBMLAN.INI file's parameters,
including why they should be set to certain values as well
as what values they should have. Emphasis is on how various
parameters affect others and how these parameters affect
OS/2 EE V1.3 Communications Manager IEEE 802.2 settings and
NETBIOS parameters.
The presentation also explores the logic and reasoning
behind the parameter configuration suggestions in the
CNFGLS13 tool available from IBM MKTTOOLS.
OS/2 LAN Server 2.0 Overview (01/23)
Audience: Technical coordinators responsible for supporting
and evaluating LAN products.
Prerequisites: General familiarity with token-ring
implementation and OS/2 LAN Server 1.3.
This technical overview of OS/2 LAN Server 2.0 covers new
features and functions, packaging, usability enhancements,
compatibility, remote IPS for OS/2, fault tolerance, and
more. The 386 high-performance server (HPFS) including an
enhanced version of HPFS is discussed in detail.
The presentation is divided into five sections: packaging
(both entry and advanced); functions new to Version 2.0;
features of the 386 HPFS server; OEM interoperability
including hardware and software compatibility and improved
on-line documentation capabilities; and LAN Server product
directions.
OS/2 2.0: Workplace Shell (02/13)
Audience: Technical coordinators and end users using OS/2
2.0
Prerequisites: General familiarity with OS/2 2.0 is helpful
but not required.
The new OS/2 2.0 workplace shell and desktop utilities are
covered during this presentation with focus on the workplace
shell functions that make it the premier end user interface.
The demonstration includes setting up folders, applications,
printers, and other desktop objects. In addition, the
desktop utilities shipping with OS/2 2.0 are reviewed.
Running DOS and Windows Applications Under OS/2 2.0 (02/13
at 2:30 p.m. Eastern)
Audience: Technical coordinators and DOS and Windows 3.0
end users.
Prerequisites: General familiarity with DOS, Windows 3.0,
and OS/2 2.0.
This presentation is a detailed discussion of the virtual
environment in which DOS and Microsoft Windows programs run
using OS/2 2.0. Demonstrations show how to configure
virtual DOS machines (VDM) sessions to enable multiple DOS
and Windows applications to run under OS/2 2.0
OS/2 2.0 Tools (02/27 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern)
Audience: Technical coordinators and others who are
programming in the OS/2 2.0 environment.
Prerequisites: General familiarity with programming and the
use of tools, plus specific familiarity with OS/2 and OS/2
Toolkit would be helpful.
IBM's tools and utilities for writing effective applications
in the OS/2 2.0 environment are discussed in this
presentation. These IBM OS/2 2.0 products include the
Toolkit, Technical Library, Workframe/2, and C-SET/2.
Presentation Manager, LAN Server 2.0, and Extended Services
1.0 support are also covered.
Programming techniques are not discussed during this
broadcast.
DOS Emulator Update (03/12)
Audience: Technical coordinators supporting 3270 DOS
emulation.
Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of 3270 DOS emulation.
With the availability of OS/2 2.0, many users are asking if
Personal Communications/3270 can be run in the DOS and
Windows boxes under OS/2. This broadcast provides insight
into running Personal Communications/3270 under OS/2 2.0.
Installation and memory considerations for Personal
Communications/3270 are reviewed, functional enhancements
are provided, and recent CSDs are discussed.
OS/2 2.0 Technical Update (03/26)
Audience: Technical coordinators implementing OS/2 2.0 in
their organizations.
Prerequisites: Installation experience with OS/2 2.0,
Extended Services 1.0, and LAN Server 2.0.
This broadcast provides technical information on the new
functions incorporated in OS/2 2.0. It covers the
implementation of the seamless windows functions as well as
new enhancements to the Workplace Shell to make it
network-aware. Extended Services 1.0 and LAN Server 2.0 are
also covered.
