  3. OS/2 2.0 SERVICEPAK GENERAL AVAILABILITY

  7. IBM's ServicePak for OS/2 2.0 will be generally available for
  8. electronic download starting October 28, 1992.  The ServicePak
  9. contains OS/2 product fixes for reported customer problems and
  10. problems identified by IBM.  The ServicePak also contains certain
  11. product enhancements, including a 32-bit graphics engine and
  12. additional display device drivers. The version control number for
  13. this General Availability ServicePak product is XR06055.
  14.  
  15. It is not necessary for customers who have not had problems with
  16. OS/2 2.0 to order the ServicePak.
  17.  
  18. The ServicePak is appropriate for customers who have experienced
  19. problems using shrink-wrapped copies of OS/2 2.0 or copies of
  20. OS/2 2.0 preloaded on IBM PS/2 Models 56 SLC and 57 SLC or on
  21. non-IBM systems.
  22.  
  23. The ServicePak is not installable on IBM PS/2 Models 56 and
  24. 57 SLC2, 76, 77, 90, and PS/ValuePoint systems preloaded with
  25. OS/2.  All major fixes, the 32-bit graphics engine, and the
  26. device drivers are already included in the copies of OS/2
  27. preloaded on these systems.

  29. Customers can obtain the ServicePak by any of the following
  30. methods:

  32. Electronic Delivery:
  33.  
  34. IBM OS/2 BBS - Subscribers to the OS/2 BBS can download the
  35. ServicePak from the Software Download Library.  United States
  36. customers who are not subscribers can call 1-800-547-1283 for
  37. information on how to subscribe.

  39. CompuServe - Members of the CompuServe Information Service can
  40. download the ServicePak from the IBM OS/2 Forum Library
  41. (GO IBMSERV), which will be activated by October 30.
  42.  
  43. Internet - Customers with access to Internet services can
  44. download the ServicePak from the network.  Customers should do an
  45. Anonymous FTP from the "software.watson.ibm.com" or IP Address
  46. 129.34.139.5.  The ServicePak is located in the "/pub/os2"
  47. directory.

  49. IBM NSC BBS - Customers can call the IBM National Support in
  50. Atlanta to download the ServicePak.  The ServicePak is located in
  51. "Corrective Service Software, Directory 04".  Type "CSD" at the
  52. main menu.  You can access the IBM BBS by dialing 1-404-835-6600
  53. via your communications modem.

  55. Toolcat OS2CSD (IBM Internal Only) - IBMers with access to the
  56. IBM network may download the ServicePak from the OS2CSD
  57. repository.

  59. Mail Order:
  60.  
  61. Beginning 11/13/92, customers in the U.S. who do not have access
  62. to the electronic delivery systems listed above, or who require
  63. the ServicePak on diskettes, can order the ServicePak by calling
  64. 1-800-3IBM-OS2.  The ServicePak, consisting of fourteen 3-1/2"
  65. diskettes or sixteen 5-1/4" diskettes, will be shipped for a fee
  66. of $24.95 to cover the cost of diskettes, shipping, and handling.
  67. Customers should specify either the 3-1/2" or 5-1/4" diskette
  68. size.  Orders placed through this number require a valid credit
  69. card.

  71. Customers may make copies of the ServicePak equal to the number of
  72. licensed copies of OS/2 2.0 they possess.  Diskette copies of the
  73. ServicePak will be shipped free of charge to registered PC user groups
  74. in the U.S. for duplication and distribution to members.  WARNNING: This
  75. ServicePak must only be applied to the OS/2 2.0 U.S. Program Product.
  76. Translated versions of the ServicePak for worldwide distribution are
  77. planned to be available in 4 to 6 weeks.  Some of the facilities
  78. described above may not be available outside the U.S.  Customers
  79. requiring the ServicePak in those countries should contact their Service
  80. Representatives or their place of purchase.
